Chapter 473:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Wendy, what are you doing? You’re putting me in an awkward situation.”
After Maddox left, Old master Shen looked at Wendy with some complaints.
“Grandpa;” Wendy said softly with a smile, “I have a reason for doing this.”
“What reason?”
Old Master Shen frowned.
“I’m making concessions to gain advantages. So Maddox won’t be on guard against me.”
Old Master Shen was surprised, then smiled, “So that’s the case.”
He thought Wendy was really going to dissolve the engagement, but fortunately, it was only a false alarm.
Instantly, Old Master Shen felt much calmer.
He smiled, “Wendy, you are a very smart girl.”

Wendy smiled, “I’m not smart. It just came to me like that without being able to do anything.”
“Whatever happens, I will support you unconditionally.”
“Thank you, Grandpa.”
Wendy smiled. Then, she turned to face the door. The smile on her face slowly faded and her eyes became serious.
Just as Maddox was walking away from the Shen villa, he received a call from Sara.
“Sara.” He grabbed the phone.
“Maddox, what are you doing?” Sara asked.
Maddox looked at the road in front of the car and replied, “I just left my house.”
Sara was silent for a while and then said, “Maddox, Yayoi is sick.”
“Sick?!” Maddox gave a cry of alarm and asked anxiously, “Why is she sick?”.
“She has a high fever. She may have caught a cold.”
Shen’s villa and Leo’s villa were in completely opposite directions, one in the south and the other in the north.
Normally, the drive would be about half an hour, but it only took Maddox about ten minutes to get to Leo’s villa.
Along the way, he ran several red lights and was in a completely reckless state.
When Sara saw him, she was particularly shocked.
“Why did you get here so fast?”
“How’s Yayoi?”
Maddox paid no attention to what she was asking.
The first thing he asked was about Yayoi’s condition.
“Her fever’s down, but she’s not awake yet.”
Sara turned around and left him at the bedside.
Maddox sat on the edge of the bed and reached out to touch Yayoi’s forehead. When he touched her cold forehead, he exhaled a sigh of relief.
Yayoi’s face was very pale and her lips were no longer as red as usual. He stroked her cheeks in concern.
“It was a sudden fever. It scared me,” Sara said softly.
Sara still felt a nagging fear seeing Yayoi’s condition in the morning.
Sara tilted her head to see how naturally Maddox showed his compassion. She pursed her lips and thought for a moment before saying, “Maddox, you’ve been ignoring Yayoi lately.”
Maddox’s fingertips paused and a bitter smile appeared on his lips. “I don’t want to, but…”
“How’s Grandpa?”
Sara suddenly changed the subject and Maddox was puzzled for a moment. He immediately reacted and shrugged helplessly, “Nothing changes. It’s the same as before.”
Sara frowned slightly and asked, “Is he really sick?”.
Maddox reflected and said, “He’s not really sick. But I found out today that he has angina pectoris.”
“Angina pectoris?” Sara was surprised, “So he can’t be scared?”
“Yes.” Maddox nodded. “I expressed my attitude to Grandpa again today. I pissed him off. He kept covering his chest and his face turned pale. Fortunately, Wendy came over later and brought him some medicine. He ate the medicine and recovered.”
Wendy?
Sara raised her eyebrows, “Your fiancée?”
“Yes, that’s her.”
Sara smiled.
“Looks like she took good care of Grandpa.”
“That’s right. Since she’s been back in China, she’s been taking care of Grandpa.”
Sara nodded, then changed the subject and asked, “Has Grandpa changed his mind?”
Maddox pondered and said, “No. But Wendy has changed her mind.”
Sara raised her eyebrows in surprise. Wendy had used the money to get Yayoi to break up with Maddox.
Why had Wendy suddenly changed her attitude?
Sara couldn’t help but feel interested.
“What does she think now?”
“She’s willing to dissolve the engagement to satisfy Yayoi and me,” Maddox said casually.
“Really?” Sara wasn’t buying it.
Maddox smiled bitterly. “Actually, I don’t believe it either. But since he said it in front of Grandpa, he must have given it some serious thought.”
Sara still felt something was wrong.
She didn’t think Wendy was going to change her attitude in just a few days, because Wendy once threatened Yayoi and gave her money.
Was Wendy really willing to give up on Maddox?
Sara couldn’t believe it any way.
“Maddox…” Sara was about to voice her doubts when a shout sounded in her ear.
Yayoi screamed.
Sara and Maddox turned and saw Yayoi frowning.
Yayoi slowly opened her eyes, and they were empty.
“Yayoi, welcome.” Sara’s voice was full of surprise.
Hearing the voice, Yayoi slowly turned her head.
Her eyes slowly came into focus. She saw Sara’s face full of joy, and…. Maddox’s eyes full of compassion.
“You…”
She tried to say something, but her throat was too dry.
“Here you go. Drink some water before you talk.”
Sara unscrewed the thermos from the bedside table and filled a glass of water.
Then she asked Maddox to help Yayoi sit up.
Maddox took the pillow and placed it behind Yayoi’s back. He reached out and smoothed the hair on her cheek. Then, he gave her some water and gently asked, “Are you feeling better?”.
Yayoi smiled and said, “Yes, much better.”
However, her voice was still a little hoarse.
She looked around and cast a puzzled look at Sara, “Where am I?”.
“At my house.” Sara smiled and teased, “You’re so muddled that you don’t even recognize my house.”
Yayoi smiled embarrassed, “Yes I am muddled.”
“I was so drunk last night I don’t even remember what happened afterwards.”
Maddox frowned. “Did you drink last night?”
“Yes. What’s wrong?” Yayoi didn’t understand why he was asking.
“Why did you drink?” asked Maddox.
Sara put her hand on Maddox’s shoulder and said half-jokingly, “It was because of you.”
Sara looked at Yayoi and continued, “I was in a bad mood. Juliet and I had drinks with her. But none of us have a high tolerance, so we all got drunk.”
After saying that, she patted Maddox’s shoulder and said, “Alright, I’ll go downstairs and help Sasha. Have a good talk. He left them alone.”
They needed to explain themselves clearly to each other.
