Chapter 479:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
When Mrs. Elton finished speaking, the air was plunged into stony silence.
Ebenezer’s face was more somber than before, and his sharp gaze was riveted on Payton, who sat across from him.
“Mom, what are you talking about?”
Juliet sketched a wry smile as she looked at Mrs. Elton.
She thought a grown-up should be ashamed to say those words in front of a minor, especially in front of Payton.
Juliet turned to look at Payton and met her eyes.
Payton was also embarrassed.
She could only smile helplessly at him.
Mrs. Elton didn’t take kindly to her words.

Instead, she replied to Juliet with a serious expression, “I’m talking about a big problem. You and Payton should not ignore this problem. Although people today are not as conservative as they used to be, they should take into account what kind of family we are. If you get pregnant before you get married, a lot of people might laugh at us.”
Juliet looked at Payton with shyness on her face.
“Mom,” Juliet said, “Don’t worry about this. Payton and I haven’t gotten that intimate yet.”
Mrs. Elton was surprised.
“Last night, you two…”
Miss Elton didn’t finish her words. But
Juliet realized from her mother’s expression that her mother had misunderstood.
Juliet smiled helplessly, “Dad, Mom, I only slept one night at Payton’s house. It wasn’t as bad as you think.”
At best, it was Payton who helped her out of her dirty clothes.
At the thought that Payton had seen her naked body, Juliet blushed.
She took a deep breath and calmed down.
She smiled and said to Payton, “Payton, hurry up and explain to my parents. Otherwise, they’ll misunderstand you.”
Payton raised her eyebrows in surprise and looked at her in disbelief.
What did she want him to explain?
Explain that he hadn’t touched her?
Wasn’t that too awkward?
Juliet kept winking at him, so he could only force a wooden smile and explain truthfully to Juliet’s parents, “Mr. and Mrs. Elton, don’t worry. Juliet and I will never cross that line before we are married.”
Ebenezer’s face softened slightly and a trace of admiration appeared in his eyes.
Mrs. Elton nodded in satisfaction.
“Payton, Juliet’s father and I are not opposed to your relationship, but we are selfish and don’t want our daughter to get hurt.”
Payton smiled softly, “Yes, I see.”
After saying that, he and Juliet looked at each other.
Juliet pursed her lips and let out a giggle, giving him a thumbs-up gesture.
Payton raised his eyebrows and his smile grew brighter.
Truth be told, she was embarrassed to say something like that to the elders, especially her girlfriend’s elders.
However, he had to say it no matter how embarrassed he felt.
After all, they were Juliet’s parents and it was only natural for them to worry about her. He, as Juliet’s boyfriend, had to assure them that he would never hurt her.
Sara was worried that the police would be fooled by Jennie like last time, so she asked Maddox’s good friend, Captain Smith, for help.
She asked Captain Smith to investigate all of Jennie’s criminal doings.
When Sara and the police went looking for them, Jennie and Rorey were in the room.
“Hello, I’m the police officer in charge of this case. You can call me Captain Smith.”
Captain Smith approached Jennie and Rorey to show them his police certificate. He then continued, “We have received a report from Mistress Sara. Miss Jennie, you are involved in a case of intentional assault and attempted murder. We need your cooperation.”
Actually, when Jennie and Rorey saw Sara come in with the police, they were frightened. However, they did their best to keep a calm expression on their faces, not wanting to show anxiety.
Jennie flashed a friendly smile and said calmly, “If I’m helpful to your case, I’ll certainly cooperate well.”
Captain Smith looked at them indifferently for a while.
Then he motioned another policeman to approach.
“Soames, tell Miss Jennie the case and ask her for details. Take down each and every word she tells you.”
He then asked Rorey and Sara to wait outside the room, leaving only the policemen in the room, in case the suspect became emotionally upset.
