“My mother’s illness is real. She’s pretending to be asleep only because she doesn’t want to see you two,” Rorey shouted at Sara, her face furious.

Sara looked at her blankly and snorted, “The doctor will tell us if she’s pretending to be sick.”

Rorey and Jennie’s expressions changed instantly when they heard that Jennie was about to be examined.

Sara watched silently, her eyes full of mockery.

She turned away and sat down on the couch. She quietly pulled out the phone and dialed under their stares.

When she got it, she looked at Rorey and Jennie and said to the person on the other end of the phone, “Doctor, it’s Sara. I made an appointment with you last night, is it okay if I come in now?”.

Hearing this, Rorey and Jennie looked at each other, not understanding what Sara was doing.

Sara hung up the phone and said to Captain Smith with a smile, “Captain Smith, the doctor will be in later to re-examine you.”

“Really?” Captain Smith already knew that Sara had arranged for another doctor to examine Jennie, but he was still surprised and asked, “Is the doctor reliable?”

“Sara, don’t try to slander me. You’d better provide proof before you suspect someone. Besides, my mother refusing to be examined by a doctor is not coming from anywhere.”

“Captain Smith, the police have no right to force an unarmed woman to submit to such an examination, do they?”

Rorey stared at Captain Smith fiercely.

Captain Smith calmly agreed with him.

He shoved his hands in his pockets and headed for the door.
