Chapter 489:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Since she had been found out, she had no need to keep pretending.
Jennie opened her eyes and looked coldly at Captain Smith and Sara. She asked, “Are you satisfied yet?”.
Sara and Captain Smith looked at each other and then sneered, “Jennie, you really are unbelievable. Not only do you pretend to be sick, you pretend to be asleep, do you think we are fools?”.
“My mother’s illness is real. She’s pretending to be asleep only because she doesn’t want to see you two,” Rorey shouted at Sara, her face furious.
Sara looked at her blankly and snorted, “The doctor will tell us if she’s pretending to be sick.”
Rorey and Jennie’s expressions changed instantly when they heard that Jennie was about to be examined.
Sara watched silently, her eyes full of mockery.
She turned away and sat down on the couch. She quietly pulled out the phone and dialed under their stares.

When she got it, she looked at Rorey and Jennie and said to the person on the other end of the phone, “Doctor, it’s Sara. I made an appointment with you last night, is it okay if I come in now?”.
Hearing this, Rorey and Jennie looked at each other, not understanding what Sara was doing.
Sara hung up the phone and said to Captain Smith with a smile, “Captain Smith, the doctor will be in later to re-examine you.”
“Really?” Captain Smith already knew that Sara had arranged for another doctor to examine Jennie, but he was still surprised and asked, “Is the doctor reliable?”
Sara looked at Rorey and Jennie, whose faces had paled, and said with a faint smile, “Of course, he wasn’t bribed.”
“Sara, what do you mean?” asked Rorey.
Sara smiled and said, “I’m worried that the doctors at this hospital can’t be trusted. If the test result is wrong, wouldn’t that be bad for you? So, for your own sake, I have asked another doctor to examine you. If you are sick, you will receive proper treatment. But if you’re not sick…”
“Rorey…”
Jennie gripped Rorey’s hand uneasily.
Rorey turned to look at her.
Seeing his mother’s uneasy, frightened expression, he frowned.
She gritted her teeth and said coldly to Sara, “My mother no longer needs to be examined. This hospital is the best in Benin. How can the test result be false?”
“Indeed, the hospital is the best.”
Rorey nodded and a smirk appeared on his face.
“But some doctors have no professional ethics and are willing to lie for their own interests. How can they be trusted?”
Rorey narrowed his eyes and said, “Are you saying to bribe the doctor?”
Sara raised her eyebrows and said, “I didn’t say that. You said it yourself.”
“Sara, don’t try to slander me. You’d better provide proof before you suspect someone. Besides, my mother refusing to be examined by a doctor is not coming from anywhere.”
“Captain Smith, the police have no right to force an unarmed woman to submit to such an examination, do they?”
Rorey stared at Captain Smith fiercely.
“Indeed.”
Captain Smith calmly agreed with him.
He shoved his hands in his pockets and headed for the door.
He turned to look inside with a faint smile on his face and said, “Since the police have no right to force you, I’ll leave. You must work it out for yourselves. I can pretend I don’t know anything.”
Captain Smith’s attitude was that he neither forced him nor stopped him.
“Rorey, what are we to do now?”
Jennie was completely anxious.
To avoid punishment, she was faking all those illnesses.
If she was examined by a new doctor, everything would be exposed.
Then all that awaited her was an even more severe punishment.
No, she’s not going to jail!
Rorey approached Sara and said angrily, “Sara, why can’t you let my mother go? Even if she did hurt our father, she did it in a moment of aberration, can’t you forgive her?”
What she said was too ridiculous.
Sara laughed and said, “Rorey, why are you still so shameless? Your mother did such an abominable thing, how can I forgive her? My father almost died, so did the butler Zhao. I have no reason to forgive her.”
Rorey clenched his fist tightly, took a deep breath and suddenly said, “I’m sorry, Sara, what happened before was my fault. I shouldn’t have ruined your relationship with David, or hurt my father by occupying the Tang Group. It was all my fault, and I apologize.”
Sara’s eyes widened in surprise.
Obviously, she hadn’t expected him to suddenly act like this.
Rorey was such an arrogant person that she hated her so much. But now, for her mother’s sake, he was even apologizing.
If it weren’t for her deep grudges, to tell the truth, such a daughter would be quite touching.
But Sara wasn’t buying it.
“Rorey, isn’t it too late for you to say this now? I don’t care what happened in the past. What I care about now is that the bad one gets what she deserves.”
“You…”
Rorey’s eyes widened. She had already given in, but Sara was still so stubborn.
Sara said, “Rorey, this is the end. Your mother can’t escape this time.”
Rorey looked at her with a calm face.
She was inwardly furious.
‘If… if Sara was no longer in this world, would her mother be calm by now?’
Just as Rorey thought this, a sudden force pushed her to the side. Before she could react, a woman rushed past her.
When she steadied herself, she saw her mother holding a fruit knife against Sara’s neck.
“Mom, what are you doing!” Rorey shouted in surprise.
It was hard to believe her mother could do such foolishness.
The sudden occurrence confused Sara.
She tilted her head slightly to look at Jennie, who was standing behind her.
Jennie realized she was looking at her, and the knife against Sara’s neck moved closer to her skin.
Jennie said fiercely, “Sara, don’t blame me. You’ve been pushing me all this time. I can only do this.”
“Mom, don’t be hasty. Put the knife down, okay?” Rorey said softly, “Slowly we can think of a way to resolve this matter, but if you do this …”
