Chapter 492:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
As promised to Wendy, Maddox took it upon himself to join her for dinner today. After dinner, she asked him to accompany her shopping.
To be honest, he had been dating Yayoi for a few months, but he hadn’t accompanied her shopping.
At first he didn’t want to accompany her, but he couldn’t stand Wendy begging him so much, so he agreed.
Compared to Wendy, who was so excited that she went into almost every store, Maddox was a bit absent-minded.
At first, he wanted to send her home after dinner so he could go see Yayoi. But now, he didn’t know how long she would be shopping.
He raised his hand and looked at the clock, his handsome face full of impatience.
“Maddox, the clothes in that store look good. Let’s go take a look.” Wendy was immersed in the joy of his company, so naturally she ignored his obvious impatience. She took him by the hand and said, “Maddox, come on.”
Maddox lowered his eyelids slightly and realized that she was holding his hand.
Then, she secretly withdrew her hand and said with a slight smile, “You can go shopping alone.”
As he said that, he pulled out his wallet and handed her a card, saying, “Buy whatever you want.”
Wendy stared at the card.
She hesitated for a moment and raised her hand to take the card. She smiled and said, “Thank you, Maddox.”

Maddox smiled and patted her head.
Then, he said goodbye to her and walked away.
Watching him slowly disappear into the crowd, Wendy looked carefully at the card in his hand and forced a smile.
What she wanted was not that card, but his company.
After he left, she had no interest in shopping any longer.
She made her way to the sidewalk and was about to cross the street to catch a cab.
As she raised her head, she saw the person sitting by the window of the coffee shop across the street.
His eyebrows rose and a smirk appeared on his face.
What a coincidence!
Why was Maddox with her?
When Juliet saw Sara and Yayoi peek out, she did too.
When she saw Maddox and Wendy, her eyes widened in surprise.
“Who is she?” Sara turned around and asked her.
“Wendy, Maddox’s fiancée.”
This answer surprised Sara.
She looked worriedly at Yayoi, only to see her calm expression that revealed no emotion.
Then, she continued to look at the men and women talking across the street.
They were too far away, so they could only watch as Maddox said something to Wendy and then walked away.
Wendy, who was about to cross the street, saw them and stared at them for a long time.
Then, she crossed the street and walked straight into the coffee shop.
“Shit, he’s not coming to see us, is he?”. Juliet looked at Sara and Yayoi in disbelief.
Sara frowned slightly and said, “Probably.”
As expected, Wendy came over, smiled kindly and greeted them.
Sara had never seen Wendy and had only heard about her from her two good friends.
They described Wendy as ordinary looking, seemingly friendly, but intriguing.
But she felt differently when she saw her in person.
Although her appearance was ordinary, the smile on her face was incomparably sincere and kind.
She didn’t come across as intriguing at all.
“Wendy, I don’t think we know each other well enough to greet each other naturally.”
Juliet forced a cold smile, her eyes full of mockery.
Wendy smiled awkwardly and said, “Indeed, we’re not familiar enough.”
As soon as she saw Maddox and Wendy walking together, Yayoi already felt miserable inside. But she didn’t want her good friends to worry, so she tried to remain calm and collected.
She grabbed the cup and took a sip, without looking at Wendy.
Like her good friend, Sara could still see through her true thoughts. It was clear that she was extremely uncomfortable, but she pretended not to care.
Sara asked nonchalantly, “Ms. Wendy, is Maddox back?”
“He’s back,” Wendy replied with a smile.
“I asked him to go shopping with me, but he didn’t like shopping, so he came back.”
When she said this, she always had a slight smile on her face, and seemed quite calm.
“What a pity!” Sara curved her lips regretfully and said, “I was just about to tell her to take Yayoi home.”
Wendy smiled and said, “I guess the reason she wanted to come back was to accompany Miss Yayoi.”
Wendy looked at Yayoi with a smile and said, “Miss Yayoi, why don’t you call Maddox and ask him to come back and pick her up.”
Hearing this, Yayoi turned her head and looked at her sideways, saying, “Thank you. You don’t have to worry about me.”
Her tone was so calm and impassive.
Wendy’s smile froze, but she quickly recovered and said, “What happened before was my fault. I hope you can forgive me.”
Yayoi’s eyes widened in surprise.
She couldn’t believe that he had apologized for what had happened before and had even asked for her forgiveness.
It was strange.
“Wendy, what trick are you playing?” asked Juliet sternly.
She had used money to humiliate Yayoi before and had even threatened her. But how had her attitude changed so much?
It was too suspicious.
“No tricks. I’m just sincerely apologizing,” Wendy smiled at Juliet and continued, “I’ve already decided to cancel the engagement with Maddox, so you don’t have to defend yourself like that.”
“The engagement is off?” Juliet frowned and looked at Yayoi, asking, “Yayoi, did Maddox tell you?”.
Sara, however, replied, “Yes, he did.”
“Sara, do you know?” Juliet looked at her in surprise.
Sara nodded, “Yes, I know. Maddox told me.”
“Really?”
Juliet still couldn’t believe Wendy was so good-hearted. She must have had other intentions.
Wendy smiled as if she had realized her suspicions. “I know none of you will believe me now, but very soon you will,” she said.
Her certainty caused Sara to raise her eyebrows slightly. She pondered for a moment and asked, “Does Maddox’s grandfather agree?”
“No, but I’ll try to convince him.”
“Do you think you’ll be able to convince him?”. asked Sara again.
Wendy replied with a smile, “I have perseverance, so whatever I want to do I will do.”
Seeing the undisguised confidence on his face, Sara couldn’t help but believe that he really wanted to call off the engagement.
