Chapter 156:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Kelly’s POV
I was rubbing my eyes as I walked toward the kitchen when the door swung open and Emily entered the unit.
My lips parted as I took in her appearance. Her hair was messy, and she was wearing a man’s dress shirt. It was obvious that underneath, she was only wearing panties.
“What happened to you?” I asked, concerned.
She smirked. “Matt Foster happened.”
My eyes widened in shock. “What?”
She sat on the stool and asked for a glass of water. I handed it to her, and she took a deep sigh after drinking it.
I just stared at her, and that’s when I realized what she meant. Judging by the oversized shirt she was wearing, it was clear she had spent the night with Matt.
“Emily…” I started, uncertain how to respond.
She smirked again. “Don’t worry about me, Kelly. I liked it.”
I squinted at her but didn’t say anything. I was waiting for her to explain more, and I was relieved when she did.
“He looked troubled last night, Kelly. I think he found out something.”

I nodded slowly. “Do you think he’ll side with us?”
“If he’s a righteous man, he will. But there’s a good chance he’ll choose his family, so we can’t be sure,” she replied.
“Still, I’m grateful you’re helping me,” I said sincerely. “You’ve been such a big help, Emily. I don’t know what I would have done without you.”
She smiled at me, but said nothing more. After our brief conversation, she went to her room to rest while I focused on finding a lawyer to help me once I gathered all the necessary evidence.
Before heading to work, I stopped by Pierce’s house to visit Snow. I found my daughter happily chatting with her grandparents. Mr. Anderson seemed particularly fond of her. They were talking about going to the beach this weekend.
“Grandpa, can mommy come?” Snow asked eagerly.
Mr. Anderson chuckled. “Of course, darling. Your momma will definitely come with us. I hope you can convince her.”
I couldn’t help but be in awe of Mr. Anderson. Snow could make him laugh without even trying.
I stood by the door, watching the exchange, when I saw Pierce walking down the stairs. He was dressed in a white dress shirt and slacks, clearly on his way to work. When he spotted me at the entrance, his expression softened.
“Kelly…” he said softly.
Everyone was aware of my arrival because of Pierce.
I immediately flashed a sweet smile as Mrs. Anderson looked at me with gentle eyes. Mr. Anderson’s expression turned serious, but he nodded in acknowledgment, welcoming me.
“Mommy!” Snow ran toward me, and I squatted to her level. I kissed her cheek and pulled her into a warm hug.
“Hello, pumpkin. How are you?”
She smirked happily. “I’m happy here, mommy. Why don’t you just stay here? I asked Daddy Pierce if you could sleep in my room, and he agreed.”
I smiled and glanced at Pierce, who was standing a few meters away. I suddenly felt uneasy under his gaze.
Snow cupped my cheeks, making me look at her. “Mommy, you have to answer me. Daddy said you can stay here. I love it here, mommy. They have a pool and a big backyard. I can play here all day too.”
I bit my bottom lip and shook my head. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. Mommy can’t stay here.”
She pouted. “Why?”
Mrs. Anderson walked over and squatted beside Snow. “Darling, why don’t you invite your momma to join us this weekend?”
Snow’s eyes twinkled as she looked into mine. “Mommy, we’re going to the beach. Please come with us. I can’t enjoy the beach if you’re not with us.”
I chuckled and gently caressed her hair. “Of course, pumpkin.”
“Yes!” Snow screamed, running toward Pierce. He immediately scooped her up.
“Daddy, did you hear that? Mommy will come to the beach with us! I’m so happy!”
Pierce chuckled. “I’m happy too, princess.”
Snow giggled. “Do you like my mommy, daddy?”
My heart raced as I slowly stood up. Pierce glanced my way, and when our eyes met, he smiled as he answered his daughter.
“I love your mommy, princess.”
“Really?” Snow turned to me. “Mommy, how about you? Do you love daddy?”
I bit my bottom lip, unsure how to answer, when my phone suddenly rang. I breathed a sigh of relief and answered the call.
“Hello?”
[Miss Kelly, your meeting will start in an hour.]
I nodded, “Thanks, Yara.”
After I ended the call, I smiled at Snow and walked toward her. Pierce was carrying her, and since he’s tall, I wasn’t sure how to kiss my daughter’s cheek.
“Uh… mommy needs to go to work now, pumpkin,” I said.
Snow smiled. “Okay, mommy. Take care. I’ll stay here with grandma and grandpa.”
I nodded and glanced at Pierce. He immediately understood. He bent down a little, and I tiptoed to kiss Snow’s cheek. But I was shocked when my daughter moved away, and my lips landed on Pierce’s instead.
My heart nearly stopped beating when I heard Mrs. Anderson gasp behind me.
“I-I’m… sorry,” I whispered, my face flushed as I looked at Snow, who was giggling. Clearly, she did it on purpose.
“Pumpkin!” I scolded gently.
She smirked. “Grandma and grandpa love each other. If you love each other, why don’t you get married too, like grandma and grandpa?”
My cheeks turned bright red as I glanced at Pierce. He was suppressing a smile, and I frowned at him. Of course, he was enjoying this. They’re clearly father and daughter, both with a mischievous streak.
“Did you bring your car? I’ll send you to your company if you didn’t,” Pierce said, still hiding his smile.
I scoffed. “I brought my car.”
He nodded. “Okay. We’ll just convoy.”
I glanced at Snow and realized she was enjoying watching me and Pierce interact this way. My daughter was clearly trying to set us up, without even knowing that Pierce is her father, and that I love him.
Just then, Mrs. Anderson interfered. “Uh, Pierce, son, your car’s broken. It won’t start.”
Pierce looked at his mom, his forehead furrowing. “What? How?”
“I don’t know,” Mrs. Anderson smiled. “And the other cars are broken too. My car overheats, and the great stick shift in your dad’s car won’t work.”
I bit my bottom lip. Now this was really strange. I could sense something fishy. They were clearly trying to pair us up. Coming here was a trap, wasn’t it?
