Chapter 171:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Kelly’s POV
“That too!” Snow said excitedly when she saw a box of chocolates. Pierce chuckled and walked toward the chocolate section while carrying her. I watched as she grabbed two boxes, struggling to hold both in her tiny arms.
“You want more?”
“Pierce, that’s enough. She’ll be hyperactive again.”
Pierce looked at me and smirked. “Just one box, then?”
I nodded and smiled as he talked to his daughter, and she reluctantly put one box of chocolates back.
They came over to me and placed the box in the cart. I pushed it forward again, and we continued shopping. After we finished, Pierce carried the shopping bags to his car, while Snow and I waited inside the mall.
“Aunt Emily!”
Snow pointed at someone, and a smirk slowly crept across my lips when I saw Emily walking through the mall, looking visibly annoyed. Behind her was Matt Foster.
“Let’s go to Aunt Emily, mommy!”
I shook my head at Snow. “No, sweetie. We’re here with daddy, right?”

She blinked and smiled. “Yes! Mommy, is daddy Pierce my real daddy?”
I smiled at her and bent down to her level. “Do you like him?”
“I love daddy Pierce, mommy. Can he be my real daddy?”
I nodded. “Yes, pumpkin.”
Her eyes widened. “You’ll marry him?”
I showed her my ring. “Yes, baby. I will marry your daddy.”
She giggled, covering her mouth cutely. “My mommy and daddy are getting married! I’m so happy!”
I chuckled and ruffled her hair. “We will be a happy family, pumpkin. Me, daddy, you, and another baby.”
Her eyes grew wide. “I’ll have a baby brother?”
I tilted my head. “Hmm! We’re still not sure if it’s a baby brother, sweetheart. But yes, we’re having another baby.”
“Yey! We’ll be four!”
She celebrated the good news just as Pierce arrived. He immediately smiled when he saw the joy on our daughter’s face.
“What is my baby girl celebrating?” Pierce asked as he carried Snow, who cupped his cheeks and kissed the tip of his nose.
“Daddy, mommy said we’ll have a baby!”
Pierce glanced at me and smirked before his attention returned to Snow. “Yes, princess. Are you excited?”
“Yes! I’m excited!”
I smiled as Pierce walked toward me, carrying our daughter. He held my hand and planted a soft kiss on my temple, whispering, “Mom called. She’s inviting us to dinner.”
I looked up at him. “You told them?”
“I wanted to, but I needed your permission.”
I chuckled and squeezed his hand. “You don’t need my permission, Pierce. You can tell them about us.”
He smiled and nodded. “I’ll tell the world that you’re mine.”
His words made my heart skip a beat. I stared at him, and he smiled back while holding my hand. We walked together until I noticed someone familiar watching us from afar.
I stared at him as I walked side by side with Pierce. His eyes were blank, full of… hurt. But the rage that had always been there had disappeared. It seemed to me that he had finally accepted the fact that we weren’t meant to be.
“Kelly…”
I blinked and glanced at Pierce. When I turned back to where I saw Klay, he was gone.
“Y-Yeah?”
Pierce’s forehead creased. “What’s wrong?”
I immediately shook my head. “No. Nothing.”
He stared at me for a few seconds before nodding. “Snow wants to—”
I nodded at him. “Okay, I’ll just go to the washroom.”
“We’ll go with you.”
“No, it’s okay.”
“Okay, we’ll watch a movie later.”
He nodded and let go of my hand. “We’ll be in the department store.”
I smiled and caressed his cheek. Then, I kissed his lips and Snow’s cheek before walking toward the restroom.
When I turned right toward the restrooms, I saw Klay standing in front of the men’s restroom. He was staring into space, lost in deep thought.
“Are you stalking me?”
I flinched and looked around before my eyes landed on him. My lips parted when I noticed the changes in his appearance. Dark circles were under his eyes. He had lost weight, grown facial hair, and his hair was a bit longer now. Thankfully, no one else was around.
He pressed his lips together, his hands tucked inside the pockets of his pants. He didn’t come near me; he just stood there, staring at the ground.
“Was it your fault?” I asked again. “The exposure of the syndicate members?”
He lifted his face and gave me a small, weary smile. “I told you I’d make things right.”
“I still won’t forgive you.”
“As long as I can make up for my sins, that’s all that matters.”
“There’s nothing you can do to make up for it.”
He looked down again, nodding slowly. “I understand. And I’m happy that you’re happy.”
I was about to say something more when I heard footsteps and a commotion. My eyes widened when I saw a man pointing a gun at me. I moved to step back, but a hand grabbed my wrist, pulling me away.
“Klay!” I growled, but he didn’t listen.
“Run, Kelly! They’re after you!”
“What?”
“You unknowingly stepped into the territory of the beasts. You’re in danger.”
“Let me go—Ah!” I screamed and quickly covered my mouth when I heard a gunshot.
My eyes widened in shock, and I yanked my arm from Klay’s grip. He looked at me, his face tight with anger.
“Kelly, if that man saw you with your family, they’d be in danger!” he said urgently.
“Why would I believe you?”
“Because you have no choice!” he snapped, his tone desperate. “I’m not going to abduct you, so don’t worry. Once we’re away from him, I’ll let you go.”
I heard another gunshot, and when I looked back, the man was still chasing us.
Just like he said, I didn’t have a choice. I ran with him. Once we were far enough away, Klay immediately released my arm. I quickly hopped into a taxi and called Pierce’s number. I realized he had called me almost a hundred times since the incident.
I didn’t know if I could trust Klay again, but the only thing that mattered right now was making sure my family was safe and investigating the person behind this.
