Chapter 174:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Kelly’s POV
“A black-and-white themed wedding… We’ll make it extra elegant.”
I smiled at the wedding planner. Our wedding will go ahead, and I don’t care about Lexi. If she’s really pregnant, then all the more reason I should marry Pierce as soon as possible. I won’t let her ruin us again, even though she managed to tear us apart once, while I was already married to Pierce. But if she’s lying about her pregnancy just to come between us, I’ll make sure she pays.
“It’ll be a garden wedding, and your daughter will be the ring bearer,” the wedding planner continued, reminding us of what we’d discussed earlier.
I felt Pierce’s hand on the small of my back, and I smiled. We were sitting close to each other, and I could feel him breathing in my hair, brushing his nose against the strands.
“I’ll personally contact you for the food tasting and the gown fitting. If you have any more concerns, you can reach me anytime, Mrs. Anderson.”
I smiled at her and nodded. “Yes, thank you.”
We shook hands before she left. Pierce turned to me and kissed me on the lips, his smile as sweet as ever. I could tell, just like me, he was excited for our upcoming wedding.

“I can’t wait to brand your name with mine again,” he whispered, pulling me closer and planting a soft kiss on the side of my neck.
I smirked and pressed my palms against his chest, the moment feeling intimate and perfect. But just then, Phoebe entered the room, followed by Emily and Matt.
Phoebe had just gotten home from school. She had also volunteered to research possible schools for Snow to attend this coming year.
“Kelly, someone’s looking for you,” Phoebe said, smiling as she went upstairs.
I nodded and smiled at her. “Thank you, Phoebe.”
She kissed my cheek before heading up. Snow was sleeping in Pierce’s bed. She’d said she was tired, but I knew she was just trying to act mature, mimicking her Aunt Phoebe, who always naps when bored.
“Should I leave you with them?” Pierce whispered, but I shook my head and held his hand.
I glanced at Matt and then turned to Emily. “Is there a problem?”
Emily shrugged. “He called me out of the blue and asked me to bring him to you because he discovered something.”
I turned to Matt. “Does it have to do with my mom’s death?”
He shook his head. “Not her death, Kelly. Her abduction.”
My forehead creased. I had already let go of that part, realizing that it couldn’t be resolved anymore. There was no evidence or witnesses left. All the kidnappers were burned along with the car, and the only mystery left to solve about that incident was how my mom survived the crash. Clearly, she wasn’t in that car.
I gestured to the couch across from me and Pierce. “Sit down.”
Matt grabbed Emily’s hand and pulled her to the couch. Emily rolled her eyes and slapped his hand away while Matt glared at her.
My brow shot up at what I was witnessing. Emily had called me yesterday morning to talk about her growing feelings for Matt. I supported her decision. I could feel, and see, that Matt wasn’t like the rest of his family. I also discovered that he was a dentist. He had wanted to become a surgeon, but ended up choosing dentistry.
“What about my mom’s abduction, Matt?”
He sighed. “I was angry because you were accusing my parents, but after everything I’ve discovered, I finally understand why you’re doing this.”
He looked down, clenching his jaw. “I never met your mom, Kelly, but I couldn’t accept the fact that my father was involved in her death… and possibly her abduction too.”
My forehead creased. “Matt, my mom was so young when she was abducted. I don’t think your father was involved in that. I believe he’s connected to her death, but not to the abduction.”
He pulled at his hair, clearly frustrated. He looked down again before meeting my eyes. “Kelly, I overheard him talking to someone on the phone. He mentioned a burned document. The second time I heard him, he was talking about it again. And just this morning, I heard him mention the son of one of the kidnappers. I think the kidnapper’s son was also involved in your mom’s death.”
My eyes widened. “What?”
He sighed. “This is getting more confusing now. Do you know anything about the burned document? I think it’s connected to the kidnapper’s son.”
My lips parted in shock. A burned document. Was it the one Attorney Lee gave me? Or was it the one burned by Luke’s sister?
Who was the kidnapper’s son? Could it have been Luke? But… I wasn’t sure. Who were the kidnappers, really? I needed more information.
I looked at Pierce. “I need to investigate the kidnappers.”
He nodded. “I’ll call my private investigator about this.”
