Chapter 186:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Kelly’s POV
We were both so excited while preparing for our wedding. The excitement I feel now far surpasses the excitement I had when I first married him. But… the grand wedding we’ve been planning won’t be possible, at least for now.
Standing before me was Pierce. I had told him I wouldn’t let the circumstances and our enemies affect the course of our lives. We would continue, unshaken by them, but looking at where we are now, I can’t deny that we’ve been deeply affected.
“I’ll marry you again after all this mess,” Pierce whispered.
I smiled at him. His grip on my hand was firm as we faced the judge standing before us. We had decided to have a civil wedding for now. I had suggested we delay it until this chaos was over, but he insisted we could always have a grand ceremony later, once everything was settled.
I felt suffocated. It was as if we were chained to darkness, struggling to find light. I was tired of fighting, and if this continued, I feared I’d break down.
But at this moment, my heart felt lighter. I had no regrets, no guilt. After watching the video my dad had left me, all the burdens, regrets, and the pain of losing him had slowly faded. I realized that’s why I couldn’t forgive Klay, even when he showed me his regret. He owed me peace, and he gave it to me in the end.
My dad’s video had been recorded just days before he helped me escape. He must have known what was coming and sacrificed himself for me.

I could still feel the fear in my chest when I first decided to watch the video on the flash drive. My hands trembled as I inserted it into Pierce’s laptop. He was sitting beside me on the hospital bed, his hand resting gently on my waist, offering me silent comfort.
“You can watch it when you’re ready,” Pierce whispered, kissing my temple.
I took a deep breath, biting my bottom lip. “I’ll watch it now.”
With a heavy heart, I clicked on the file. The video played, and the moment I saw my father’s smiling face, my heart raced, and tears welled up in my eyes. It was a genuine smile—a smile I missed every single day.
“Hello, my darling angel,” he said warmly.
I gasped. He could speak… directly to me?
I cupped my mouth in disbelief. Why had he done this? Why had he left me a message like this?
He sighed and shook his head. “I’ve recovered, and I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you sooner. I… saw how much you loved Klay, and I didn’t want to ruin your happiness. I had hoped that he could make you happy the way you deserve…”
