Chapter 680:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Good boy. When you grow up, you can play with him. But he’s too dangerous for you now,” Emily said as she stroked Adrian’s hair, smiling tenderly at him.
Adrian pouted, fixed his hair and fell silent.
Adrian had just discovered that, no matter who she was, even Baby liked to mess up her hair.
“Auntie, I’m going to make a phone call,” Adrian suddenly said, remembering Baby. “I don’t know what she’ll be doing now.”
Emily nodded, allowing him to go.
Adrian quickly ran to his room.
“What are you doing, kid?” asked Adrian when Baby picked up the phone.
“I’m in my room,” Baby replied, a note of irritation in his voice.
“Why didn’t you come out to play?” Adrian suddenly remembered Baby’s father. He couldn’t believe that after all, Baby was being scolded for something so trivial.
“Well, I’ll go out later,” Baby said. The Brook family was very different from the Kingston family, and the relationship between the two families was somewhat complicated. Baby didn’t like her own relatives, least of all during the New Year, when they all got together.
Although the Brook family had lived abroad for a long time, the older members of the family insisted that they all return to celebrate New Year’s together.
“Are you all right?” asked Adrian, concerned.
“I’m fine. I’ll call you later,” Baby replied, before hearing a knock on the door and quickly hanging up the phone.
Adrian didn’t have time to say anything else. He didn’t think much about what had happened; he knew Baby’s temper and knew that no one could easily provoke him.
He looked outside and saw the fireworks lighting up the sky. He immediately forgot about the call and ran downstairs.
…
“It’s so beautiful,” Stella said, leaning into RK’s arms as she watched the fireworks out the window. A natural sigh escaped her lips.

“As long as you’re here, everything will look perfect,” RK replied, smiling as he hugged Stella even tighter.
“Do you want to stay in bed for a while?” RK asked worriedly, as Stella looked somewhat listless. He didn’t want to take her to the hospital for a checkup right then, so he just hoped she would feel better the next day.
“I’m fine,” Stella said, shaking her head. If she fell asleep right then, she would have a hard time waking up later. She wanted to count down with RK.
“I thought this would just be a family dinner. I didn’t expect it to be so lively,” Stella said, smiling as she thought about what had happened earlier.
“This year has been the busiest,” RK said, although he didn’t like the hustle and bustle, he felt it was different that day.
“There are so many Indians living around here, and the bustle will continue until midnight,” RK commented. Most of the people living near them were Indians, and RK knew almost all of them.
“Why are there so many?” Stella asked, intrigued. She had always felt there shouldn’t be so many people from her nation here.
“Yes, the Brook family lives nearby, too. Their whole family…”
“They’ve moved here,” RK continued, realizing that Stella only knew a little about the Brook family and decided to explain more about them.
“Yes,” Stella recalled, mentioning Baby. Whenever she spoke, Baby used her native language with great passion.
RK wasn’t sure why so many families from his previous generation had moved there, and honestly, he wasn’t too interested.
Stella looked down to where Adrian was playing happily with Ruben, and a smile broke out on her face. Adrian’s happiness was the greatest satisfaction to her.
“Do you want to go downstairs?” RK asked with a smile. He thought that if Stella didn’t fall asleep, maybe she would feel better if she went downstairs and joined everyone.
RK helped Stella put on a coat and led her downstairs.
“Honey, Daddy, you came down to play too.” Adrian was the first to see them, and ran up to them excitedly.
“Yes,” Stella nodded, stroking Adrian’s head affectionately.
Emily, who was sitting on the swing, watched them with a warm smile. When she saw Stella come down, she waved to her.
Stella walked over to Emily, sat down next to her on the swing and waved.
“Stella,” Emily reached out, taking Stella’s hand and resting her head on her shoulder.
“In the future, I’ll have to call you sister-in-law. You’ve taken advantage of me,” Stella teased, looking at her with a smile.
“What do you mean ‘taking advantage’ – you’re younger than me! It’s your family’s fault Rene wasn’t born first,” Emily replied, lifting her head and gently pinching Stella’s cheek.
“If Rene and Ruben were dating, people would surely think of Rene as the older brother,” Stella commented, looking at RK with a look full of love.
“That’s because Ruben is childish, but you can’t change your age,” Emily said, laughing. At first, she didn’t believe that Ruben was Rene’s older brother, but she soon realized that RK was much more mature than Ruben.
“Yes,” Stella didn’t refute Emily’s words. Actually, she didn’t think Ruben was that naive.
“Do you think you’ll have a baby here?” Emily asked, placing her hand on Stella’s belly as she watched her curiously.
“Who knows? We’ll find out when we go for a checkup tomorrow,” Stella replied, shaking her head. “If I had another child, I could go with Adrian. But if I didn’t have one, that wouldn’t be bad either.”
Mr. and Mrs. Kingston went downstairs together.
Stella and Emily got up from the swing and walked toward them.
“One minute to New Year’s,” Mrs. Kingston said, sighing as she thought about how RK and Reuben had grown.
“Five, four, three, two, one…. Happy New Year!” the whole family counted together.
At midnight, Ruben set off the fireworks.
“Happy New Year!”
