Chapter 686:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Isn’t this your secretary, Miriam? She’s still so beautiful after all this time,” President Brown said, looking at Miriam with a lascivious look. The last time he had seen her, he had asked someone to bring her to his company. Miriam, however, was very loyal to RK.
“You must be joking, Mr. Brown,” Miriam replied with a smile, though she cursed the man’s words in her mind.
Miriam was not easy to deal with. She had worked for RK since she graduated from college, and she was not a naive person, despite her apparent humility.
“RK made fun of him. No matter who was in his company, he couldn’t get hold of Miriam.”
Miriam’s family was not wealthy. When her mother fell ill, Miriam turned to RK for help, and without thinking, he embraced and supported her without hesitation. From that moment on, Miriam had been extremely loyal to RK. Although she was very capable, RK promoted her to the position of secretary, and everyone in the company knew that she was RK’s favorite. No one dared to offend her.
To be honest, it wasn’t just the favor RK did her at the time that made her so loyal. He was different from other bosses. Not only did he value her ability, but he never made her do things she didn’t reciprocate.
RK looked at Miriam and then took her elsewhere. He detested Mr. Brown for his attitude.
“Miriam, go rest for a while,” RK told her, looking at Miriam with a tired expression. She had had too much wine and wasn’t feeling as well as she used to.
Miriam nodded. She had had too much to drink and was starting to feel dizzy. She needed to find a quiet place to relax for a moment.
RK was busy with the banquet social activities, while Miriam was on the balcony, enjoying the fresh air. The wind was helping her to clear her head, but she didn’t notice President Brown watching her, approaching with a glass of wine in his hand.
“Miss Miriam, why don’t you join Mr. Kingston? It’s blowing the cold wind here alone,” President Brown said, approaching her with a steady gaze.
Miriam forced a smile and looked up at him.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Brown. Our president is waiting for me…”

“Don’t go away. Have a drink with me,” President Brown insisted, grabbing Miriam by the wrist to keep her from pulling away.
Miriam looked around and noticed that someone was bothering RK. She couldn’t just leave now.
RK had also seen what was going on with Miriam, but he was busy with another matter and could not intervene directly.
“Sir, can’t you see this lady doesn’t want to talk to you?” a man quickly approached, pulling President Brown’s hand away from Miriam and placing his own hand on her shoulder.
“Who are you, what’s that got to do with you?” President Brown frowned, trying to remember who this man was. He was not someone he knew well, let alone someone who could challenge him at this banquet.
Miriam looked at the hand on his shoulder and wanted to push it away, but restrained herself. She knew that if she did, President Brown would probably still be after her.
“It doesn’t matter who I am.” The man responded indifferently, and firmly, he picked Miriam up and began to walk with her.
President Brown stood there, staring at the two of them, not saying a word.
“You can let go of me now,” Miriam said as she walked with the man.
The man, without hesitation, let go of her shoulder.
“Thank you, Damian,” Miriam murmured as she walked away, looking at the man who had defended her.
Damian nodded, and RK stepped closer, looking at Damian.
“Humph,” Damian snorted, looking at RK, but said nothing more.
“You came here with this beauty, where’s Stella?” Damian asked with a smirk. He knew that if anyone could provide an answer to that question, it was RK.
“Stella is at home,” RK replied, not giving Damian’s tone a second thought. He was used to it.
Miriam hadn’t expected Damian to know RK, but she didn’t apologize to him, even though she had helped him.
“If you have time, go see Stella and Emily,” RK patted Damian on the shoulder and said, looking back. It felt like time had flown by, but he was still grateful that Stella was still by his side.
“I know. You don’t need to say it,” Damian replied, though with a slight objection.
“Well, when you see Emily, remember to call her ‘cousin-in-law’,” RK said, as he turned to leave. It didn’t matter how Damian felt; RK wasn’t going to explain himself any further.
“Cousin-in-law, dammit,” Damian muttered to himself, confused. “RK, you’re not with Emily, are you?”
RK smiled, ignoring Damian behind him. Suddenly, he realized that maybe it was a good thing Reuben wasn’t there that night.
Damian scratched his head, still struggling with his thoughts.
“What’s up?” Wayne, who had been watching silently, patted Damian on the shoulder.
“RK asked me to talk to Emily’s cousin-in-law – you’re not with her, are you?” Damian looked at Wayne, his expression full of confusion.
“Silly, don’t you have another cousin?” Wayne smiled, realizing that Damian finally understood.
Damian realized immediately and thought of Ruben, who, like Wayne, had always had a big personality.
Wayne watched Damian and smiled, knowing that, as usual, Damian didn’t think much before he acted.
