Chapter 1672:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“It’s not exactly leverage,” Raegan commented. “I do think Jarrod has feelings for you. He put his life on the line in the mountains to rescue you. Despite warnings about the danger, he kept going. He even nearly went off a cliff trying to save you. That says a lot about his feelings.”
Nicole was surprised by Raegan’s positive comments about Jarrod. Previously, Raegan had always scolded Jarrod, openly wishing he could tear him apart.
“Have you changed your mind about him?”. inquired Nicole.
“I’m not changing my mind, I’m just acknowledging the facts. He saved your life and I thank you for that. But that doesn’t erase what he’s done before,” explained Raegan.
This response was so characteristic of Raegan. She was always sharp, clearly distinguishing between being grateful and forgiving.
“You’re right. I thank him for saving me, but I can’t sweep his past actions under the rug. I think it’s best that he and I keep our distance, just long enough to fulfill our duties to our children, to raise them right,” Nicole commented, expressing her thoughts about her future with Jarrod.
Nicole looked forward to the baby’s arrival, which would pave the way for her divorce. After that, she and Jarrod could concentrate on their role as parents. She believed that living together and continuing to make each other unhappy would do their children no good. Independence and co-parenting seemed the most sensible path.
“You’re right,” Raegan nodded. “You have children now. If Jarrod can maintain his good behavior and you two can live together without conflict, it will be beneficial to the children’s growth.”
Raegan hugged Nicole warmly, reassuring her, “Whatever you decide, you will have my unwavering support, just as you have always supported me.”
“Thank you, Raegan,” Nicole said sincerely. Without a supportive friend like Raegan who understood her deeply, Nicole felt at a loss to confide her problems and frustrations. She feared losing her sanity under pressure.

“Don’t be so formal with me,” Raegan smiled, handing Nicole some food. “Now you have to take better care of yourself.”
After a while, Raegan inquired, “I hear there have been developments in your father’s case?”
“Yes, it turns out my father was murdered and the investigation is continuing,” Nicole replied.
“My God, your father was murdered? How could anyone hurt such a kind man?” exclaimed Raegan, struggling to believe that someone would make an attempt on Wesson, who was known for his benevolence.
At first, everyone had blamed Jarrod for Wesson’s death, but it was discovered that Wesson’s death was not related to Jarrod. Everyone had been wrong.
“We will find this individual,” Nicole said solemnly, her eyes alight with unwavering hatred. She needed to capture her father’s killer and understand his motives.
“You need to be careful,” Raegan warned. “Your father would want you to be safe. Let the professionals handle the chase.”
Nicole nodded. “Rest assured, I’ll protect myself.”
During the meal and conversation, the topic turned to Rhett. Expressing her appreciation, Nicole commented, “I appreciate you introducing me to Rhett. His help has been invaluable, but I don’t know how to express my thanks to him without sounding too forward.”
“Rhett?” Raegan raised an eyebrow. “He’s back in the country?”
“You weren’t aware?” Nicole was puzzled by Raegan’s confusion.
“I had no idea. I heard he was thriving overseas after he left the Dixon Group. He was working at WDC, an internationally prestigious law firm. Given the demanding nature of his work, I hadn’t anticipated his return,” Raegan explained.
