Chapter 269:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Stella continued to talk about the night before over breakfast.
“The bed in our room was very small. Joseph couldn’t even stretch his legs because it was huge, and Noah was squeezed into a compact cookie.”
Benjamin who was eating oatmeal, and almost gagged at the way Stella described everything. He tried to hold it in, but ended up expelling the oatmeal through his nose.
Stella fled in terror from the table.
“You’re disgusting, Benjamin.”
“I’m so sorry, Stella…”
Hayden lowered his head and tried to maintain a serious expression.
Hayden swore he hadn’t expected Joseph to sleep with the kids after Benjamin locked him out of the room. The bunk bed in that room was designed for children of about twelve or thirteen.
Didn’t Joseph suffer from sleeping in such a small space with his height?
“You think that’s funny?” Joseph looked at Hayden with a long face, “Last night…”.
“I’m done eating.” Hayden was afraid Joseph would say something inappropriate in front of the kids, so he quickly got up and grabbed his wallet, “I have to get back to the office. I didn’t read the news last night, something might happen.”
Hayden then quickly left the place without looking back.
The place was silent after Hayden closed the door. Stella got up from the table and went back to her room as well. Only Joseph and Benjamin were at the table.
“Don’t blame me. You said you didn’t want to come into the room last night, so I thought you’d rather sleep on the couch than sleep with me. Who knew you’d go to sleep with the kids.”
Benjamin blinked and played innocent. Joseph’s face scrunched up and he tried his best to hold back the thought of beating the crap out of Benjamin.
Benson arrived at Hayden’s office immediately after Hayden arrived. He reported changes in the public opinion data from Internet users the night before.
“It looks stable at the moment, but from 12 p.m. to 5 a.m. is a slow period for public opinions, so we shouldn’t rely entirely on the data we have now. I am concerned that the public response may accelerate later. Ms. Downey, we should discuss the backup plan.”
“Okay.” Hayden sounded calm, “No need to argue, go back to your work. Be prepared for the press conference this afternoon, concentrate on your duties before the press conference.”
Dante entered the office as Hayden was speaking. Hayden waved at the sight of him. “Good timing. Dante, please close the door. I have something to talk to you.”
Dante turned around and saw a shadow hiding behind the door.
He gave him a cold look and closed the door behind him.
“Hayden was planning to tell the media that he had already disowned his father long ago, and he’s going to use Bentley Downey’s will as evidence to deny his relationship with the Downey Group.”

Campbell closed the bathroom door and explained to the person on the phone the plan of action he had just heard.
“I see. Thank you.”
“Mr. Barton, now that we know how to proceed, may I get out of here?”
“Don’t be in a hurry.” Mr. Barton replied in a perfunctory tone on the other end of the line, “We haven’t completed everything yet. Wait until after the press conference.”
“I can’t.” Campbell panicked, “I can’t wait until after the press conference. You won’t let the press conference go smoothly, will you? If I quit after Green Lemon Clothing announces bankruptcy, what would people think of me?”
“It’s normal if you leave after they go bankrupt.”
“No, it’s not. Mr. Barton, please listen to me…”.
“So be it, I have to go.”
“Hello? Mr. Barton…”.
The phone hung up before Campbell could speak. Staring at the phone screen, Campbell scratched his head in worry. He felt like smashing the phone into a thousand pieces.
Campbell wasn’t an idiot. Based on the attitude Mr. Barton had just taken, he suspected that Yi-Pai Clothing was not going to keep its promise.
Magnus took time out of his schedule and left the office for the afternoon.
