Chapter 276:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Sofia got into Hayden’s parents’ marriage and caused many tragedies. Hayden’s mother died of a hemorrhage, his aunt Scarlett lost her only son and lastly Hayden’s grandfather became depressed and passed away from grief.
Even though the culprit of it all was gone, he couldn’t forgive her at all.
“Why, there’s nothing for you to feel sorry for.” Scarlett frowned, “Who should feel sorry for me and your mother, is Bentley Downey and that bitch. If your mother had been tough like you today, maybe everything would be different.”
For as long as Hayden could remember, everyone said his mother was kind and tender. That’s how they remembered her. However, a tender flower was always vulnerable, so she couldn’t handle it.
“Did you find that woman?” Scarlett asked.
Hayden shook his head, “There was nothing wrong with the Downey Group’s taxes, so the police probably won’t issue a warrant. Maybe she’ll come back after she hears that the company is safe and sound.”
“That woman is a mess.” Scarlett sulked at the mention of Sofia.
“Stop worrying about her, Aunt Scarlett. Don’t let it affect your mood.”
The car pulled up in front of a classic red brick mansion and a man’s voice rose from the driver’s seat.
“Here we are.”
Scarlett glanced out the window and at the back of the person in the driver’s seat.
“Well, I’m home now. Have a good trip.”
“Sure.” Hayden waved goodbye to Scarlett. The car’s engine restarted after the door closed, and they drove away from the residential area.
Hayden and Joseph saw Benjamin peek into the driveway once they arrived home. Benjamin glared at Hayden and Joseph as he held out his hand, “Where’s my dinner?”
Hayden and Joseph exchanged a glance and asked curiously, “What dinner?”.
Benjamin immediately became angry. He replied with a sulky face, “My dinner, I wasn’t allowed to join the dinner and you asked me to go back to babysit after the press conference. You promised me you would bring me dinner, don’t tell me you forgot.”
“You told me Benjamin didn’t want to join the dinner.” Hayden looked at Joseph.
“Me?”
“I knew you were up to no good.” Benjamin looked angrily at Joseph, “Joseph, I swear I will make it hard for you to marry Hayden. You’re starving me to death today, think what will happen if you marry Hayden.”
“Oh?” Joseph looked at Benjamin, “You know, Magnus invited some students from the University of Public Safety to dinner. I believe they specialized in intelligence gathering and counter reconnaissance…”.
Benjamin immediately stopped Joseph, “I was kidding, I didn’t want to join the dinner.”
Hayden looked at Benjamin curiously, “You are unpredictable.”
Benjamin explained, “I was bored, so I wanted to make a joke.”
Joseph changed his shoes while he was talking. He threw a bag at Benjamin as he passed him and walked straight into the living room.
Benjamin stood static. He looked inside the bag and discovered it was takeout from the restaurant.
