Chapter 116:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Mr. Rowland, every mother misses her child. I miss Sammy, I really do. Still, will you let him come back? If you do, I don’t mind Sammy being the heir to the Rowland Group; I can raise him myself. But is it fair to him? To let him see the fight between mom and dad? It will hurt him to the core. So I have to make such a terrible decision! Yes, I’m being encouraged to leave my son. But that doesn’t mean I’m a perfect soulless for the Rowland Group – I’m not as cruel as YOU who can make a deal with your grandson!”
She had to make a decision like that! Many divorcing parents had to fight to keep the child with them; they didn’t realize that it hurt the child too much. Finally, Sherry had to give up Sammy so that William wouldn’t have such a hard time raising him.
Even if Lucille was lucky enough to become a stepmother, Sammy might not hate her.
One of them had to suffer the pain to get a solution to the problem. Sherry was willing to be the one.
John was surprised and said angrily, “I’ve never seen such a heartless mother as you.”
“Mr. Rowland, you ruin your son’s marriage to make him happier. I know you love him, but you have done it the wrong way. That’s why William is so unhappy at home. You wouldn’t want to upset him by not marrying Lucille; he had that accident in the end. I think William loves you, because he always has it in his mind that his mother died giving birth to him. He remembers that. Mr. Rowland, thirty years have passed; William suffers it no less than you do.”
“You know William well.”
“I only think he has a hard time having you for a father. I hated to see him unhappy, so he did not marry Lucille and merely had a child with me whom he did not love at all at the time. Now Lucille is ill; William doesn’t care what happened before and is always full of remorse. I am touched by how deeply remorseful he feels about Lucille. It is precious in the world to William. Mr. Rowland, put yourself in his shoes. He is doing everything he can to make you happy. Don’t hurt him any more. Well, Mr. Rowland, I have finished. Goodbye.”

John was startled and asked, “Are you really going to leave Sammy?”
He hadn’t expected Sherry to make the decision.
Sherry was more excellent than he thought, determined and uncompromising; she was more confident than she should be at her age.
“I never give up. But I have to let him go so he can have a better life in the future. Mr. Rowland, you are Sammy’s grandfather. You will be good to him.”
Sherry turned away to control her sadness.
This was her final decision! Sherry walked away with many tears in her eyes.
Keegan was riding in his car and saw an acquaintance coming out of the tea store. The lady’s name came to his mind, “Sherry?”.
Sherry ignored him; she was crying out of sight and almost fell over by accident. Keegan went over to hug her.
But she didn’t look at him, just said, “Thank you!”.
So Sherry kept walking, wiping her tears and crying more.
She got to the sidewalk, quietly, to squat down and began to cry. She tried to give vent to all the anguish at that moment, so she cried until she was exhausted. After all, Sherry wiped her tears and left.
In the crowd, many people, seeing Sherry, must have thought she had just broken up with her boyfriend.
Keegan followed her all the way. Sherry sat on a bus stop chair and cried for a long time. He stood watching her cry instead of interrupting her. He didn’t know what had happened. In his memory, Sherry was always smiling. He had never seen her cry like that.
She seemed heartbroken, miserable and in pain.
Just at that moment, she seemed to be giving up the most important part of her life.
After a while in the chair, Sherry stood up and saw Keegan standing next to her and looking at her in shock.
Sherry was also stunned, “Keegan, you’re here.”
It killed Keegan to see Sherry crying.
Why did she feel so desperate?
At the MH Residence, when he had just returned, William saw Lucille curled up on the couch and crying with her hands on her head.
She was shaking and mumbling, “Where’s Will? I can’t find him…”.
William remembered many years ago, at T University, Lucille was standing in the classroom doorway with a white dress and long, soft hair over her shoulders; many students were drawn to her.
She ignored all the other admirers and just walked towards him with a smile.
Finally, she gave him a look with beautiful dimples on her face. When they were young in college, William was a talented student in the Finance Department, very proud and aloof; Lucille was the most beautiful girl in the Design Department.
They fell in love with each other, envied by many students there.
How much time passed? I used to love Lucille too much. But how did she change to be the one in front of him? She herself curled up on the couch and looked both helpless and fearful.
William hated to see what she looked like then. He began to understand Sherry’s decision; Sherry was right. Before he had a better solution, he couldn’t be so selfish as to ask her to accept that task with him.
Did loving someone have to be suffering or selfish? No! How could he allow an innocent woman to repay his debt to another woman? But how would he stay sane in that regard?
He lost his mind for loving Sherry.
Darcy came out of the bathroom with a wet towel in her hand; she was wiping Lucille’s face and saw William, who was watching Lucille anxiously by the door.
“Lucille woke up without seeing you here and kept crying. I tried to say something to make her feel better. It’s no use. William, I’d like to ask you if you still love her.”
William kept thinking about the past and watching Lucille.
She had been in treatment for a month; her hair was still messy, as was her thin face that was even smaller than her hand. But then she opened her eyes wide.
On the small face only her big eyes stood out without any emotion.
Lucille merely said to herself, “Will is gone; he is gone….”.
She repeated these words which made William feel very bad. William could not believe that Lucille had changed so much. He felt sorry for her, he owed her so much!
Lucille could have her baby if she didn’t have the car accident.
She might not be like that. Lucille had always been a lovely, confident girl who obsessed a lot of guys at T-University.
She kept calling his name in unconsciousness-she still loved him! If she didn’t love him, why did she get another boyfriend soon after learning that he had fallen in love with another woman?
Lucille should have been very angry with him before!
Darcy called out to him, “William?”
William’s conscience returned and he asked, “Darcy, I beg your pardon?”
Darcy raised his head after thinking for a while, “Do you still love Lucille?”
Love Lucille? What should he answer to her? If he didn’t meet Sherry….
Sherry, the last name he would like to remember. With a tangle in his mind, William could think no more.
He was suffering from grief and tried to avoid Darcy’s gaze, “I hope she gets better soon.”
Darcy continued to ask, “What if she’s not going to be better in her lifetime?”
William took a deep breath, “I will help her in her well-being.”
Darcy said frankly, “You don’t love her anymore!”
William turned away slightly, “Yes. We won’t go back to the past. I can fool others, but I have not been able to do it with myself. I can pretend, but I know my mind!”
“Will… Will, are you home?” Lucille heard William’s voice and glanced at him.
She saw that he was in the parlor and flashed a charming smile; she held up her dress and said, “Oh, changing my dress…dress.”
Darcy walked over to Lucille and shouted with concern, “Hey, Lucille, wake up! He doesn’t want you now!”
“No! You’re talking nonsense! Will loves me; he’s always loved me! He’s said I’m the only one for him!” Lucille glared at Darcy.
Darcy held Lucille’s shoulders tightly to shake her back into the real world,
“Lucille, no! He is far from loving you! Please get real, he’s not the one who deserves your love! No!” Suddenly, Lucille pushed Darcy to the ground.
She said, “Fuck you! Who are you? You’re talking nonsense! Will loves me. He’s good to me! You must envy me. Of course you envy me!” William frowned after taking a deep breath.
He came to know that Lucille still loved him deeply, but she was very disappointed in him, so….
William almost shouted at her, “Lucille, I don’t deserve your love!” Finally, William did nothing.
Darcy said, “Lucille, wake up! You suffer too much for him. Do you forget how many check-ups you had to have a baby with him? Do you forget? He left you because of your infertility! Lucille, wake up! It’s Darcy. We’re going home together. ”
Lucille held on tightly with her hands; she was too excited at that moment, just screaming in fear, “Oh, no! Fuck you!”
William could no longer look at her like that and ran over to her to kneel on a blanket in front of the couch.
He said, “Lucille, don’t be scared! I’m here!”
Lucille mumbled in fright, “Will…. Will… She’s a creep.”
Darcy looked at the frightened Lucille, soon realizing she had been wrong to talk about it.
She said, “I’m sorry, Lucille. I’m so sorry.”
It was her fault to say the bad words to Lucille who was still sick. The trembling Lucille curled up and looked somewhat nervous as she listened to Darcy’s apology.
She held William’s hands tightly and he took a look at her hands, which were not good looking, but simply thin and with many burned scars.
William lost his head and yelled, “Lucy!”.
Darcy calmed down and said to Lucille, “Don’t worry, William is here. He won’t leave you alone.”
Then she passed a towel to William, “Please help her clean herself up. Crying too much is not good for her.”
“Lucy, look at me.” said William gently to her and took the towel.
Lucille shook her head putting it down, “No, no…”
