Chapter 124:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Both Cohen and Reggie were surprised by Keegan’s unusual actions. They never expected a cold person like Keegan to do something so tender.
Sherry blushed and said, “Thank you, Mr. Fox!”
She was pregnant and couldn’t drink soda. Sherry didn’t seem to notice the other two’s expression and put her head down to drink the water.
She had been busy with her work all morning and still hadn’t had a drink of water. She enjoyed the glass of hot water.
Cohen looked shyly at Keegan. The latter immediately came to his senses and explained, “Dad, it’s not what you think!”
“What do you think I’m thinking?” Cohen laughed and didn’t think his adopted son cared about his secretary.
How interesting, had this boy finally found someone he liked? Sherry seemed so pure and, even though she already had a son, she still looked so young. It was natural for anyone to like her. Besides, Sherry was serious about her work. If Keegan was really in love with her, then Cohen would certainly support him.
“Keegan, I’ll support you no matter what!”
“Dad…” Keegan felt embarrassed and fell silent.
Reggie pursed his lips, glanced at Sherry, noticed that she was unresponsive and just sipped her water quietly. She was not participating in their conversations and he was surprised that the young lady was so quiet.
At that moment, a family of three rode up in the see-through style elevator.
A well-dressed lady said to the waiter, “Tell your boss that Ashley Jones is here. Ask him to come out.”
Sherry was quietly sipping her water when she heard Ashley. She quickly turned and saw the person she really didn’t want to meet, Sierra Anderson. She choked on her water and coughed.
“Why are you so careless?” Cohen handed Sherry a paper napkin.
Reggie raised his eyebrows and glanced in the direction where Sherry was looking.
The Jones family of three was ushered to a table three tables away from them.
The waiter called Leon over.
When Ashley saw Leon, she laughed with glee and shouted, “Leon! I brought my parents to your restaurant to take a look at you.”

Leon smiled, “Great!”
He then greeted Payne and Sierra, “Mr. and Mrs. Jones, how are you!”
Sierra smiled and nodded, “Mr. Hickman, our Ashley keeps talking about you. You should spend some time together with her. Don’t keep working and don’t forget to take a break, especially between the two of you. Why don’t you and Ashley go horseback riding this weekend? Our ranch just took delivery of a new batch of horses.”
“Yes, Leon, come to our ranch!” added Ashley jovially like a lively princess.
Leon simply smiled.
Sherry lowered her head and maintained her silence.
Keegan and Reggie noticed Sherry’s strange behavior and asked, “Sherry, are you all right?”
“I’m fine, I just choked due to an oversight of mine!” Sherry’s face turned red from coughing and she apologized, “I’m sorry I interrupted your meal!”.
At that moment, Ashley’s gaze turned, she saw Sherry and yelled, “Ah, Leon! Sherry is here. Last time we went to Karaoke, she was dragged away by William. We haven’t seen each other in a long time! Sherry! Sherry!” Ashley started walking toward her as she called out to her.
Sherry didn’t expect Ashley to acknowledge her back. She wanted to keep her head down but Ashley was already approaching.
“How are you?” she greeted the men and then gave Sherry a look, “Miss Murray, it’s been a long time.”
Sherry stood up and said calmly, “How are you?”
Sierra’s face went pale and she looked down, pretending not to see them. But her eyes peered up to see what they were talking about.
“Miss Murray, we’re going to Karaoke again and this time you mustn’t run away. I’d like to hear you sing that song ‘Flower in the Sea.
“Flower in the Sea?” Cohen’s eyes lit up and his hand trembled.
He looked at Sherry, who stood up, and his expression turned deep. Sherry hadn’t expected this song to shock Cohen so much.
He really didn’t know and quickly excused himself from the three men, “Mr. Sutton, Reggie, Keegan, please excuse me. I’m going to chat with my friend for a moment.”
“Ashley, come back. This is a Western restaurant, don’t raise your voice here.” Payne, saying that, also came over and nodded to Sherry.
Sherry nodded in return, “Miss Jones, go on with your meal. Leon is waiting for you.”
“So, when can we go to karaoke together?” Ashley asked again.
“Another day!” Sherry couldn’t refuse and could only push him away.
“All right then! Miss Murray, don’t forget!” stressed Ashley before walking away.
Sherry looked at Sierra, who still had her head down. Sherry felt uneasy, took a breath and headed for the bathroom.
Not expecting to find her here, she tried to gather Ashley and Leon. Sherry felt amused.
She knew Sierra was influential, but when she saw her in person, she felt Sierra was quite pitiful. Why was she her mother?
After a while, she heard footsteps and turned around. She saw Sierra about ten yards away and walking toward her.
She knew Sierra was coming and had anticipated.
“Stay away from Ashley, she’s a very naive little girl!” Sherry was amused by what Sierra said. so that’s what she came to tell her! “I know you blame me, but I had no choice. That’s the way things are now. Sherry, please try to understand me!”
The air felt stifling and Sherry was quietly looking at her with much disdain, forgetting the formalities even. Was Sierra implying that Sherry had a motive for meeting Ashley?
“Why do you think everyone is as scheming as you are? Keep your dirty thoughts to yourself and don’t see everyone through your lens. I don’t know you and we won’t see each other from now on – don’t ever look for me!”
“Sherry, I’m the person who gave birth to you, will you be happy if you hate me?” Sierra’s expression froze and she couldn’t help but wheeze.
“You are wrong. I feel neither love nor hate for you. We are strangers.” Sherry scoffed, “I explain. My parents are dead. I have no mother. If I could do it again, I would rather become an animal than the daughter of a fame-hungry woman. I’m done talking. You can go.”
“Promise me you’ll stay away from Ashley! Don’t tell her about our relationship and I’ll leave.”
Sierra’s face was as pale as a sheet of paper and she pleaded.
Sherry scoffed and raised her eyebrows, “Since when have you ever seen me get close to her?”
“I… As long as you won’t admit our relationship!” Sierra let out a sigh of relief, but she was still worried.
Sherry shuddered at the sound, “We’re strangers! Don’t ever look for me. Otherwise, I won’t guarantee what I’ll say next! You should be the one to disappear from my sight.”
Sierra was stunned and her face paled. Her expression darkened and they both fell silent. Sherry didn’t look at her, but she felt very sorry to have such a mother.
Sierra said, “In spite of everything, you’ve already taken William. If it weren’t for you, maybe that marriage would be successful…. Now that Ashley has feelings for Leon, even if you hate me, please don’t mess this up for him.”
At that moment, Sherry’s cell phone rang and it was a call, not a message. She looked at Sierra and said, “Your thinking is always so dirty, do you think I’m like you, always depending on a man?”
Sierra looked at Sherry’s phone, which was still ringing, and said calmly, “Take care of yourself. I know you have a son. I’m not a good mother, but I hope you are.” Sierra smiled bitterly and left.
Sherry closed her eyes and saw William calling for her. She suddenly felt like crying and felt like she missed him.
“William…”
“What’s wrong?” William heard some annoyance in her voice and became concerned, “What’s wrong, Sherry, why do you look so grumpy?”
Sherry walked to the bathroom window and stood next to her. Her voice was still grumpy, “Nothing, William, I’m fine, how is Miss Mclean?”
“Sherry, what’s wrong, where are you, I’m coming to get you.” William was worried.
“No!” He quickly declined and continued, “You should be looking after Miss Mclean!”
“She’s asleep! I’ve already hired a private nurse. She doesn’t seem to be refusing the nurse anymore. Jesse Wood said she can be saved! Sherry, I called you about this news – the sooner she recovers, the sooner we’ll be together!” Sherry felt some hope inside her but became even more melancholy.
Could he really recover? Even if she did recover, could Lucille leave William?
“Sherry, did you hear what I said, where are you, I’m coming to get you.”
William felt like he was tormented by every moment he wasn’t with her.
“I have to work in the afternoon. Rest if you have time or go see your father,” she said.
She said nothing about Sammy as she thought Old Master Rowland had told William.
“No! I’ll see you in the afternoon. Tonight we’ll go to Villa 15. Wait for me at the office. I’ll pick you up after work! It’s raining today!”
“No need. I’ll take a bus there! I’m hanging up now, they’re waiting for me.” Sherry felt revitalized after talking to William.
“No! Promise me you’ll wait for me to pick you up and I’ll hang up. If not, I’ll look for you in the office now!”. insisted William.
Sherry could only nod, “Okay, pick me up after work!”.
“That’s great!” William immediately brightened up and then said affectionately, “Honey, don’t tire yourself out! Wait for me! My heart will hurt if you’re too hard on yourself!”
Sherry was stunned and her face immediately turned red, “William, are you the William I know? It’s embarrassing!” What he said was so endearing and even though she reacted that way, she felt so happy inside. What he said managed to drive away much of her melancholy.
“Goodbye!” She was stunned when she returned to the restaurant.
She noticed Cohen and Sierra standing in the restaurant, startling her. Payne’s face had turned blue with anger while Ashley looked stunned.
Keegan and Reggie also gave the impression of being dazed and not knowing what had happened.
“Sierra… Is that really you?” Cohen’s voice trembled.
Sierra lowered her head and bit her lips.
Her face was pale as her body shuddered.
“Sir, I’m sorry, you’re wrong!”.
