Chapter 131:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Sherry prepared herself a long time ago, but when she saw the intimate scenes before her very eyes, she still felt quite sore inside. She felt as if a knife was piercing her heart, and tears began to flow down her eyes uncontrollably; their intimacy burned right into her eyes!
Sherry felt as if the energy was being sucked out of her body. Her gaze was still fixed on William and Lucille’s kiss; they seemed like such a terrific couple, and now these memories were searing deep into her heart!
But the present Lucille was in a fragile state. Perhaps, after she recovered, she would become another great beauty that everyone adored, and William could fall in love with her again. Maybe Darcy was right; Sherry would just be a part of the past!
Suddenly, Sherry felt a shadow cover her as someone sat across from her.
Ugh, she thought. She raised her head, only to see a tall, handsome man handing her a napkin. She froze in place; only now did she realize she was crying. She hastily closed the album and placed it on the table.
She did not take the napkin, but smeared her tears with her hands and said, “Mr. Reggie, what are you doing here?” Reggie said nothing, but picked up the album and began flipping through it. “Mr. Reggie, that’s mine!” Sherry reached over to grab it again.
Reggie dodged it, then looked coldly at Sherry and said in a low tone, “I was just curious what could make such a beautiful girl cry!” Hearing this, Sherry frowned and sat down.
She said nothing, and Reggie continued browsing. He closed his eyes and inhaled; his heart was still congested. She could never forget how in love William and Lucille were. She could never forget the soft tone of his voice when she first said ‘Lucy!’ over the phone. In the end, if you really loved someone, you would care about every little detail! Why was she so unable to let it go? Why did she feel such sadness and sorrow in her heart, even though she knew it was all in the past?
She knew Darcy was trying to force her to leave William, but she still felt deeply hurt.
As Reggie flipped through the album, her expression grew increasingly solemn. As he reached the last page, his hands gripped the album tightly, as if he was about to tear it.
Sherry lifted her head and saw his distorted face, which made his handsome visage quite frightening.
“Mr. Reggie, are you all right?” Hearing her concern, Reggie managed to sketch a thin, dry smile; his gaze passed nonchalantly as he closed the album and placed it on the table.
“This looks like a collection of photos of William Rowland and his previous girlfriend!”
“You know Lucille, too?” Sherry’s eyes widened.
Lucille had been gone for over three years; how could I know her? She looked at him doubtfully, then saw that the areas of the album where he had touched looked a little bent. How much force had he applied?
“How do you feel about taking a look at this?” Reggie pinned his eyes on Sherry.

She was caught off guard for a moment, then took a deep breath and said, “Miserable!”
“Oh?”
“But I’m fine now!” She forced a weak smile; there was a hint of sadness between her brows. She continued, “I always think the past is the past, so we should cherish what’s in front of us. These photos are part of the past, and Lucille kept them, not William. Her sister gave them to me to try to get me to leave William. But I believe William loves me now. No one can erase the past, nor can I turn back time, so I might as well accept it.”
“Can you really let go of the past?” asked Reggie quietly, as if he was asking Sherry and himself at the same time.
“Haha, when the person you love is in love with someone else right in front of your eyes, how many people can pretend not to see it? It’s impossible not to be affected by it, but what can you do? Compared to how much I love him now, no matter how intense the past love was, it’s insignificant!”
“Miss Murray! There is something very precious in this world, and it’s called memory. Some people go on living in their past and can’t move on, and they may get back together in the future. Would you still feel the same way then?”
Sherry felt her heart flutter. Lifting her head, her eyes met Reggie’s cold gaze. His gaze was like an abyss trying to see through her, so she quickly averted her eyes.
“I wish you the best!” he had a crooked smile, “If you really don’t care, why are you crying?”
Her heart began to race. What a terrifying man, it was as if he could read her thoughts completely. It was a pity, she wasn’t able to stay detached, and she just wanted to calm down. But she knew her heart wouldn’t let her fool herself; deep in her heart, she still felt the overwhelming emotions gushing out! Sherry picked up the album and Reggie’s eyes followed her.
“If you don’t want to see these pictures, why don’t you give them to me! I really enjoy collecting pictures of beautiful men and women.”
“Mr. Reggie, if you enjoy collecting these kinds of photos, you’d better find someone else; there are much better looking men than this man, This man is no good!” said Sherry with a smile; she didn’t like his tone of voice, as if he saw through everything.
“Do you plan to keep him and give him a look once in a while?” he asked her.
Again with the questions; Sherry was puzzled by his intrusion. What does any of this have to do with him?
Sherry remained calm and replied, “Mr. Reggie, this is my personal business; how I choose to deal with it is my business!”.
Reggie slowly raised his head to look at her. They were both seated across the table from each other. Reggie’s cold, emotionless face looked a little surprised as he continued to stare at Sherry. This woman surprised him a little; she wasn’t shy or overbearing, but her eyes seemed straight and true.
“Goodbye, Mr. Reggie!” Sherry placed the album in her purse, stood up and turned to leave.
Reggie leaned back in his chair as he watched her leave. Her bushy hair seemed to cover his line of sight, but that smile on her mouth left an eerie feeling.
Sherry walked out of Seah’s Restaurant, and a cold breeze came to embrace her, making her shiver. She felt an emptiness in her heart, so empty it hurt. She looked down at the album she carried in her purse; pain and suffering suddenly reappeared in her eyes.
How could she feel indifferent? If you love someone, you want everything from that person. Although she could not change the memories of the past, she still felt a bitterness in her heart.
Suddenly, her cell phone rang.
It was William.
Her heart skipped a beat and stopped for a second, then she took the call. A voice he couldn’t get enough of rang on the other end, “Sherry, where are you?”
“I’m walking down the street!” The corner of her mouth twitched and she let out a bittersweet smile; her voice lacked any emotion, “If there’s nothing urgent, I’m hanging up for now!”
She didn’t wait for his reply and hung up. What should she do with this album? Pretend she didn’t have it, give it back to Darcy or give it to William? Should she bear the burden of hiding this album and still be in love with William, or stand her ground, push William away and continue to live with a broken heart? Sherry stood still on the street; she felt she was becoming more and more closed-minded!
When Reggie came out of the Restaurant, he saw before him a tiny, helpless, but unyielding figure. It was as the previous inquiries had said; she really was an inflexible woman. William did not deserve a woman like her.
He took long strides to stand beside her, then stared at the agony written on her face. At that moment, all her facial features seemed to crumple.
“Would you like to have a drink together?” he said in a warmer tone.
She was startled, but then calmed down, “Why are you here?”
“I was worried about you!” He looked at her; he didn’t have the creepy look from before, but Sherry still felt hints of discomfort.
Her cell phone rang again; it was William calling. He hung up directly.
“So, how about a drink?” asked Reggie again.
“What’s your game?” she asked, “Mr. Reggie, why do I get the feeling you’re up to something? What are you up to? Tell me, I’m tired!”
He raised an eyebrow: “Would you believe me if I told you I liked you?”.
She chuckled: “No way!”.
“Then it’s settled, come on! Just one drink! Besides, it’s still daylight, what could I possibly do to you?” Reggie laughed, spreading melancholy on his face. “I was just looking for someone to chat with, that’s all!”
For some reason, at this very moment, Sherry felt as if this man before her was someone who had been alone for far too long, as if his whole soul was alone. She said nothing and merely nodded.
“Let’s go back to Seah’s Restaurant!” said Reggie.
Back at the Restaurant, he chose a table by a window; the waiter brought coffee.
“Sorry, I don’t drink coffee, a glass of warm water please!” said Sherry.
Reggie looked at her; his eyes lit up, “Wow, you’re easy to take care of, you just need a glass of warm water!”.
Sherry was alarmed and remained very quiet. Her cell phone rang, and again it was William.
For some reason, she didn’t want to pick it up. She couldn’t put it into words, but she just wanted him to feel urgency for her.
“Aren’t you going to answer it?” Reggie joked.
“Unknown caller, no need to answer!” said Sherry and turned off the cell phone.
“It’s William, isn’t it?” Reggie laughed derisively and sipped some coffee. “He’s so worried about you! What an indecisive man, he can’t let go of his past or present lovers!”
Sherry froze in place and stood slightly wary to look away. She didn’t like the way Reggie spoke of her and William with his dismissive tone that also seemed to be hiding something.
“Is that any of your business?” asked Sherry.
“I told you I’ve grown fond of you!” he said and winked at her. Sherry’s eyebrows drew together as her eyes widened. “Hehehe, I’m kidding, don’t be so serious.” Reggie winked at her again, “I’m just curious how you’re going to handle this matter, since I’m going through the same situation!”
“What?”
“My wife also has pictures of her ex-boyfriend; I came across them by accident, So I’m pretty alarmed too!” said Reggie.
“Your girlfriend still has pictures of her ex-boyfriend?” Hearing this, Sherry gasped aloud in disbelief, “You’re so cute, why does your girlfriend still have pictures of her ex?”
“You’re pretty cute too, aren’t you?”
“But William didn’t keep those pictures, they’re of Lucille!” explained Sherry. “Is your girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend cute too?”
“Not so much!” said Reggie mockingly.
“Then why did they break up?”.
Reggie’s face sank and he stopped talking.
“Mr. Reggie, if you love her, take care of her. After all, the past is the past. You love her for her. Besides, everyone has a past!” Sherry knew that his words of comfort were weak, casual and ineffective, since she herself had not yet learned to let go, let alone persuade someone else to do the same.
