Chapter 138:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
At this moment, she didn’t know what she felt in her heart. He came to propose to her in public, and although she could feel his love, what was wrong with Lucille Mclean’s problems?
She didn’t want to marry him when the problem was unresolved, and she didn’t want those unstable factors to always be around her.
William Rowland froze, too.
“Hurry up! I haven’t seen Sammy for days.” He said. “I want to see him!” She finally looked sideways and met William’s deep eyes, she froze for a moment.
She felt uncomfortable as his eyes were scary at that moment. She was about to speak, but the car seat fell. She hurried to try to get up. But he leaned over her and his hands rested on both sides of her body.
He was catching her to keep her from getting up, and he kept shouting hoarsely. “Sherry, let’s get married. I mean it. My father agrees, And you know it’s hard for him not to object!”
“If your father objected, you wouldn’t marry me, would you?” She raised her eyebrows.
He froze and hastened to explain, “That’s not what I meant! I’m going to live with you whether Dad agrees or not.”
“Let me up!” Sherry tried to push him away from her, and her face was red.
“Marry me, I’ll get up if you promise!” His vision locked on her eyes.
“No!” She shook her head firmly.
“Why?” Sherry choked, her eyes as deep as if she could give him a glimpse into her heart.
She turned her head, no longer looking at him, and said faintly, “Because I don’t know if I’ll become the past, too.”
As soon as she spoke, she saw that his expression was a little stiff, and he seemed to be a little hurt. She became anxious and wanted to say something, but her throat seemed to be blocked with something, so she couldn’t utter a sound.
She panicked and tried to push him away, but found she didn’t have the strength to move him.
“Are you still angry?” He asked quietly, and his tone was sad. “Because of those pictures from yesterday?”
She became even angrier when he mentioned those photos, and with a bitter smile, she said quietly, “William, have we ever had a single photo taken together?”
He froze at her words. Although it was a little sad, she was telling the truth. Yes, he realized it seemed like there was only a child between them after she said that. Other memories were so small, AND he hadn’t even had his picture taken with her! He wanted to say he hadn’t meant to, but he found that his explanation was useless.
“Let’s take pictures if you want, okay? We’ll go to Hokkaido again,” he said hastily. “Let’s take lots of pictures!”
He wanted to make it up to her to give her the best memories and make her forget the pain. She shook her head and moved her mouth. She became more apologetic as she gave him a closer look.
“Letting you leave me behind again, huh? Last time I was poor, but now, will I still be foolish enough to go out with you?”
“Sherry!” he shouted under his breath. “I’m sorry…”
He realized he was overreacting, and that he always ignored her.
When she said that, he was speechless, not knowing how to explain.
She couldn’t bear to hurt him anymore and told him truthfully, “I can feel that you love me, but I also feel that you love Lucille at the same time. If you want me to give you a reason for not marrying you, this is it. You may not even know it. You love her more than you love me.”
“That’s not true!” He explained quickly. Instead, she pressed her hand against his lips.
“I don’t want to blame you! Listen to me.” He nodded painfully. “You were so careful to preserve your memories with Lucille, and I thought the past was the past too, but you couldn’t let go of your past. Miss Mclean doesn’t recognize you now, and do you know how crestfallen you were when you heard her words? That look on your face hurt me so much. Maybe you thought I was upset because of those pictures, but not entirely because of that, William. It was also because of the look on your face! When she said Will had blue eyes, do you remember how downcast you looked then?”.
Did he really not realize he was feeling so miserable, William wondered inwardly and frowned.
His black eyes were deep, and showed his annoyance. He didn’t remember if it was because of the involuntary look on his face that made Sherry so upset?
“You proposed to me openly on your knees today, and I’m very touched, but I can’t marry you!” murmured Sherry; she felt a shudder in her heart.
Something became clear in her heart, and her mind became instantly clear as well. Yes, I can’t marry him.
She loved him too much. She wanted a one-on-one relationship, and if she couldn’t spend her life as a couple, she would rather not marry and give up on love. Although she knew that her current appearance was a bit pretentious and false, she just wanted to protect her dignity, and she had the right to defend it.
William frowned, “Sherry, I don’t know how to explain those pictures to you, and I don’t know how to explain my feelings to you.”
“Then don’t explain!” She said quickly, but deep down she was annoyed. “I don’t want to hear explanations either. William, I don’t want to feel wronged, AND I don’t want to be treated unfairly! So, I can’t marry you!”
“If you don’t want to marry me, can you still see me?” he asked softly and without forcing her.
His long fingers touched her soft cheek and brushed away the hair that stuck to her face. She was stunned. Truth be told, she had never asked herself this question before. If she didn’t see him…
She didn’t know how it would feel in her heart. He kissed her forehead, and the mood was one of sadness.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know what to say to you except that I’m sorry…”
“Then don’t say anything!” She closed her eyes and held back the sadness.
“I’m sorry, Sherry! Why do I always treat you unfairly?” he muttered and stood up again.
Sherry felt a lightness in her body, and the seat lifted. He bowed his head without a word. She didn’t dare look at him with her head down, but he reached across and buckled her seat belt.
The car’s engine started up again.
The mood was pensive.
Sherry lowered her head and clasped her hands together. There was an album Darcy had given her in her purse, and she still didn’t know how to handle it. She was struggling. She didn’t know whether to see each other again. If she didn’t marry him, and if they did see each other again, wouldn’t their relationship be more ridiculous?
“Let me take you back!” He said. “Sammy’s already been picked up by my dad!” she nodded her head.
“Okay!” The car stopped on YX Road, he got out and tried to open the door for her, but she already got out.
After getting out of the car, without a word, he walked toward the apartment.
“Sherry!” he shouted. He stopped, turned and smiled.
“Let’s never see each other again!”
“Forever, or temporarily?” He asked. She was stunned.
“Let’s not see each other temporarily!”
“Okay!” He didn’t force her, “Take care!” She turned and saw that the cleaners had cleaned up the pile of cigarette butts she saw in the morning.
She remembered something and wanted to ask him if he hadn’t slept last night, but realized that his car had sped away. His heart was empty for a moment, wondering if it was right to do so….
The car pulled out of the alley. When William stopped on the road, he turned around and discovered that the flowers in the back seat were still there.
At the thought that she had said they would not be seen, he felt pain in his heart.
It was another hard night’s sleep.
Sherry put on her clothes and went to the alley. She admitted that she wanted to see William’s car there, she wanted to. However, when she went there, she didn’t see his car and was disappointed.
The wind was blowing, the air was very cool and made her hug herself tighter. It turned out that she felt more pain when she couldn’t see him! He should have come back!
Sherry sighed and went back to the apartment. She turned on the TV and didn’t know what she was watching.
After a while, she didn’t feel like watching anything, so she turned off the TV and went to sleep.
The next day, he went to work.
Cohen was always inadvertently asking her about her childhood, but he also asked her about the relationship between Sierra Anderson and her father, Clark.
Sherry suddenly felt that perhaps Mr. Spencer and Sierra were not simple, and perhaps many years ago they were lovers.
Finally, Cohen asked, “Sherry, if you suddenly discovered one day that the father you have called for many years was not your real father, what would you do?”
Sherry shook her head and laughed, “That’s impossible, I don’t make those assumptions. My father would be sad! In this world, no other father would adore me as much as my father!”.
Cohen’s expression hardened a little, “That’s right, you have a good father!”.
After leaving work, Sherry looked in the driveway and didn’t see the blue Bugatti.
She felt a little annoyed. She was hurting, either she saw it or she didn’t. When had her heart become so restless? She left the company and wondered how this baby had no answer.
These days the baby was very quiet and different from when she was pregnant with Sammy. Was she really a daughter?
The winter landscape of the street was bleak. As she walked, it seemed like a long time since she had been out for a walk. It felt good just to have taken a walk.
She walked looking down, and suddenly a pair of black leather shoes came into her view. Sherry took a look and saw a pair of blue eyes.
“Reggie?” she was a little surprised.
Lucille’s words came to mind, blue eyes, black hair, and then she burst out laughing.
Reggie put his hands in his pockets and asked quietly, “What are you laughing at?”
“You’re welcome, why are you here?” asked Sherry, forgetting the formalities.
“I went for a walk!” Reggie smiled too. “I just happened to run into you!”
“What a coincidence!” she muttered.
It always seemed to her that it wasn’t a coincidence. On the other side of the street, a high-class RV was following behind. He was a long way behind them, but he kept following.
“Young Master, should we follow them?” The driver asked.
“No need!” He spoke in an indifferent and deep tone.
The person sitting in the last row turned out to be William. She frowned as she saw Reggie approach her, then pulled out her phone and dialed a number.
“Alexis, help me look into a person!”
“Tell me!” Alexis spoke from the other end.
“I don’t know the name. It seems his last name is Kelly, he’s a mixed race individual and he often shows up at the door of the Cohen Group. He occasionally annoys my wife, Sherry, and he has blue eyes.”
“When do you want the results?”
“The sooner the better!”
“Okay, I’ll give you the results twenty-four hours later!”
