Chapter 139:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
After hanging up the phone, William Rowland’s eyes narrowed to the car window, looking at Sherry Murray and Reggie walking side by side.
William wondered what they were talking about – and the way they were walking together bothered him! Reggie was by no means a simple individual. What purpose did he harbor in approaching her?
The car followed, slowly.
As Sherry walked with Reggie, he asked without thinking, “Where did you go yesterday? You looked like you were in a hurry, AND you didn’t even go to work!”
“Oh, a friend got sick!” said Sherry, then pursed her lips.

“The woman in the picture?” Reggie’s body stiffened and he paused. “Lucille Mclean?”
Sherry froze, looking up in confusion. “How did you know?”
Reggie’s eyes flashed. “I guessed. She’s very sick?”
Sherry nodded. “Yeah, pretty bad-something’s wrong with her mental health! It’s said to be domestic violence and she has a mental disorder.”
“It’s said to be domestic violence?” Reggie’s voice couldn’t help but rise a little, sounding a bit agitated.
Sherry froze as well, giving him a confused look. “Yeah, I saw a lot of burn scars on his hands. They were like cigarette marks. So it’s obvious how cruel her husband treated her. No wonder she misses her former lover, William. Thinking how gentle William was with her, no wonder she’s always singing about him!”
Reggie’s pupils contracted.
“How’s her mental health now?”
“Not so good!” Sherry shook her head. When she realized she had said too much, she suddenly said, “Mr. Kelly, this is about someone else’s privacy and you shouldn’t talk about it. Please don’t talk about it either.”
Reggie , however, seemed to have fallen into deep reflection.
“Mr. Kelly?” cried Sherry.
“Uh!” He came to his senses. “What did you say?” sighed Sherry.
“Mr. Kelly, you’re lost in thought!”
“I’m sorry!” He apologized sincerely.
“Let’s go eat together. It’s time for dinner, I’ll treat you as compensation for not inviting you yesterday!”
William had followed them all the way.
In the car, his hands couldn’t help but clench into fists as he continued to watch them drive to Seah Restaurant.
“Young Master, do you want me to come in and keep an eye on them?” The driver asked.
“No need!” William’s face was stern and tense. He looked coldly in the direction of the Seah Restaurant, “Wait here!”.
The driver found a window where he could see inside and stopped.
William took a look inside through the window. He could see Sherry smiling at Reggie and wondered what they had said. He glanced around and became anxious. The mere sight of her smiling at another man made him very anxious, annoyed and insanely jealous.
When William put himself in Sherry’s shoes, he realized that she would naturally be more upset when she saw pictures of him kissing other women. And as it turned out, when he put himself in her shoes, he realized that he didn’t have her funny, he couldn’t laugh!
He wanted so badly to run over, pull her out, hug her tight and tell her not to smile at other men. But she said they were not to see each other for a while.
He was again dismayed, not daring to move forward. He could only watch from a distance. The jealousy in his heart was intensifying as if it were burning him to the point of suffocation.
…
“Mr. Kelly, you love your girlfriend very much! Maybe you love her more than she loves you, and that’s why you’re hurt!” said Sherry.
Reggie said he just wanted to talk to someone and she was bored, so he became her listener. Then they went to lunch together.
“I don’t know if I really love her!” Reggie shook his head. His voice grew louder, but he was still revealing his loneliness, “I’m disappointed in her! But it’s all over, And it’s time for both her and me to move on!”
“There aren’t many men as sentimental as you are anymore. You’ll find your happiness,” Sherry said comfortingly.
An angry look appeared in Reggie’s eyes as he said somewhat confusedly, “Happiness is a luxury for me.”
Sherry was stunned. When she heard these words, she felt that happiness seemed like a luxury for anyone. And she didn’t know where her happiness was. Perhaps she was too greedy.
She said quietly, “Maybe you shouldn’t ask for too much!”. Suddenly they felt like old friends, relating the meaning of happiness. Sherry smiled faintly, feeling herself growing older and more emotional. “We could say we’re friends now, couldn’t we?”
Reggie lifted his head and glanced at Sherry, who was wiping her mouth with her napkin. She froze and nodded her head. The subject had just occurred to her and she hadn’t expected him to say that.
“Yes!” Although she didn’t much like male friends, it seemed reasonable for her to have one or two such friends.
Just then, her phone rang, and she was surprised that it was Darcy’s number. She had called Sherry’s number once before, and she remembered it.
“Excuse me. I have to take a call,” Sherry said.
Reggie nodded.
“Miss Mclean, may I ask why you’re calling me?” asked Sherry quietly.
“Sherry, I didn’t expect you to be so old-fashioned in your tactics in not letting William visit my sister! If anything happens to my sister, I definitely won’t let you go!” Darcy’s voice carried a threat that penetrated Sherry’s ears.
“Miss Mclean, I don’t understand what you’re talking about. Why doesn’t William see your sister anymore?” Hearing this, Reggie’s expression stiffened and his eyes rolled back to her. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t know anything about William’s business, what are you saying, has his sister disappeared?” Sherry’s voice rose sharply. “How did that happen?”
Reggie looked up sharply and was a little stunned.
Sherry hung up the phone and frowned, confused.
“Did Darcy say Lucille is missing?” Reggie spoke directly.
She nodded her head. “Yes, he said Lucille is gone and he’s looking for her.”
Reggie miserably stood up, pulled out his wallet and put down his money, “Excuse me, I’m going out to look for her!”.
“Ah!”, Sherry was stunned. “You know Lucille?”
“I don’t have time to explain, Sherry. You should go home yourself.”
“No, I’m going to hit Lucille, too!” Sherry also got up and the two of them hurried out of the restaurant.
As soon as William saw them leave, he became alert.
“Follow me, quick!” At that moment, his phone rang as well. “What, how can she be missing, you have someone look for her immediately! I’m coming too.” William watched as Sherry got into Reggie’s car, and Reggie headed in the direction of the MH Residence. William’s car headed in that direction as well.
Sherry called back to Darcy.
“Miss Mclean, how long has your sister been gone, why did she go out?”
“All right, I got it!” Reggie’s hand gripped the steering wheel tightly, the bones and joints of his hand were distinguishable, “What did Darcy say?”
“He said Lucille’s been missing for an hour and everyone’s looking for her! Maybe she just left the apartment and is still in the neighborhood!” said Sherry.
When Reggie’s car and William’s car pulled up to the MH Residence, they opened the car door.
Sherry saw William get out of the vehicle and they were both stunned.
William rushed over, “Why are you here too?”
“Miss Mclean is missing!” explained Sherry.
But Reggie said, “Maybe she left here recently, I’ll go look for her first! Let’s get in touch when we find her. Here’s my phone number. Sherry, let’s split up and go look for her.”
“Okay!” Sherry nodded, glanced at the business card and put it away.
William, however, tugged it out of her hand.
“You’re coming with me!”
“There’s no time now. It’s important to find Miss Mclean first. Darcy is looking for her, too. Let’s split up. It’s important to find Lucille first. It will be even harder to find her later when it’s dark. I’ll take a look over here.” Sherry pointed down the path out of the district and started walking.
“Sherry!” shouted William.
“Hmm?” She turned around.
“Be careful!” He instructed her sharply.
“Got it!” Sherry nodded, no time to say anything as they all went off to find Lucille.
Reggie was running very fast, and Sherry didn’t know why he was in such a hurry. But it seemed suspicious to her because he seemed to have an unusual relationship with Lucille.
Sherry was also walking very fast. She didn’t miss anyone passing on the street, especially when she saw a woman’s figure, she looked at her carefully. She kept walking until she came to an alley.
Then, suddenly, he heard a piercing scream coming from the alley in front of him.
She immediately ran to her, “Miss Mclean, is that you?” There was no one there? Sherry glanced around the empty alley in dismay and thought she might be drunk. But just as she turned around, she bumped into a stout body, and immediately apologized, “I’m sorry.”
Sherry touched her nose, which had been hurt during the bump, and tearfully apologized. When she looked up, her face paled, “Who are you?”
“Man, it’s another woman. This one here is much prettier than the one now.” A tall young punk reached out and grabbed Sherry’s arm, his lustful gaze roaming over her hot body.
“Who are you?” Sherry was startled and wondered how she could know the punks.
“Ah…” Another shout came from further down the alley.
It was Lucille! Sherry’s face was pale. She turned her head and saw a woman screaming from the alley.
“Don’t hit me, don’t burn me…”
“Let her go! It’s not right!” shouted Sherry, “Don’t scare her.”
“Ha! Let her go? We men want a woman. We just left the police office and we have a strong desire for a woman. It’s been a while since we’ve met a woman, so how are we going to turn them loose if we can’t… cross… one?” Another man’s husky voice was heard from behind, as two tall men with bald heads and lustful faces approached.
“Hurry up and bring her along. When there’s one more woman, we’ll each have one. Then we can enjoy playing with them for three days,” one of them said.
Sherry’s face grew paler as she listened to their conversation.
“Don’t burn me…” cried Lucille, even more, struggling madly as both she and Sherry were pulled and dragged inside.
At the sight of the filthy hands in her arms, fear erupted in an instant, and Sherry shouted sharply, “Let me go! You beast, let her go.”
Sherry was very frightened, and her face was already extremely pale. Sherry was slapped in the face, and she became dizzy. The one who hit her was a young punk.
He shouted viciously, “Damn it! Why are you screaming… We’ll let you enjoy yourself until you can’t even make a sound!”
“Ha! What a hot woman, I like her!” The obscene sounds of flirting made Sherry even more frightened.
Sherry was dragged by them into a courtyard. Then Lucille was led away as well.
“Miss Mclean!” Sherry cried out urgently.
Lucille had lost her head, her whole body was curled up and her clothes were in tatters.
“What did they do to her?” Sherry didn’t care about the pain on her face and hugged her, “Don’t be afraid. William will come to save us.” Lucille was trembling and her body was tense.
“Damn it, drag her into the house!” someone grabbed Sherry.
