Chapter 141:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Reggie walked over to her and sat down next to her. He contemplated her pale, colorless skin in silence. Pain coiled through him.
“How are you feeling?” her voice was hoarse.
She was the second woman he cared about most in this world. Sherry was innocent. She didn’t want to be hurt.
“I lost my baby, am I right?” Sherry flashed a weak smile.
She touched her belly with her hand. Her baby was gone? It was empty. Everything was empty. Her heart was empty. Her brain was empty! Her baby was gone! The baby took all her strength. He even forgot what grief felt like.
Reggie tried to speak, but he didn’t know how to answer her question.

“It’s gone, isn’t it?” he asked again. His gaze was hollow.
“Yes! He’s gone!” He answered finally. Silence took over.
Sherry was surprised to still be breathing, “My baby is gone. I’ve lost him.”
Reggie sighed, “It was an accident!”
“No! It’s me. It’s me who should be punished. I’m too greedy, I want more. That’s why I lost my baby… If I hadn’t asked for a loyal relationship, this wouldn’t have happened.” Yes, that must be why. The world was punishing her, making her lose her baby.
“The world punishing me…” Her voice was getting softer, as if warning herself that she wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
Reggie felt sorry for her, sat on the edge of the bed and said gently, “Why is it a punishment? It’s everyone’s wish to have a loyal relationship. Don’t think too much. It was an accident.”
Sherry remained silent, and spoke again after a while, “Everyone could wish for that, except me. I shouldn’t! It’s all over. It’s all over…”
The door opened loudly.
William’s forehead was drenched with sweat as he rushed into the living room. He was relieved and his heart ached at the same time when he saw the scene in the living room. Sherry was still alive, lying on the bed.
“Sherry…” He felt the pain as he spoke.
Sherry felt like crying when she saw William. Her gaze, which was hollow, was now filled with tears. Tears came down from her eyes, and she turned her head away.
She didn’t want anyone to see her tears.
Reggie was wise and left the space for William. He stepped aside and gave William a complicated look. He wanted to leave, but Sherry stopped him, “Reggie, please ask the others to leave,” she said softly in her sobbing voice.
The two men froze.
“Sherry!” William held back the sadness in him.
She called him William as ‘the others’.
“Please go away! I don’t want to see you, I want to be alone!” she said. “I couldn’t face you now!”
For a moment, the surroundings were dead silent.
William was stunned. He glanced at Sherry with a lost face, “Sherry, what happened to you? Don’t scare me.”
Her face was drenched with tears, then she said, “William, it was my fault. I’m sorry. Our son is gone. It’s all over. I don’t want to see you anymore. Reggie, ask him to leave!”
“Please leave.” Reggie spoke up, “His body is weak, and he must not be emotional.”
“What?” William felt as if his brain had exploded with a bomb.
“Get out!” Reggie was stern this time.
William looked at Sherry, who was on the bed with a complicated look on her face.
She had to go. Reggie closed the door. He sighed and glanced at the woman, who was trembling as she cried.
Outside the room, William was still trying to understand the situation. He ran to the infirmary and asked about Sherry’s condition. He thought she only had an external injury. But when the nurse told him it was a ‘miscarriage due to excessive bleeding,’ he was stunned.
So she was pregnant. His child. He only knew that she was pregnant and that she had lost her son at the same time. The child must have been conceived when they were in Hokkaido, Japan.
When he remembered about Hokkaido, he didn’t even take a picture with her. The feeling of regret was like a blade cutting into him.
“You should stop crying!” Reggie walked over to her and sat on the edge of the bed. “Your body is really bad. You stop crying, do you hear me? Or I’ll let the man outside come in.”
His words were threatening but Sherry was still crying. Sherry pulled the blanket over her head and cried. You could tell she was grieving. She didn’t cry until she saw William. The memory of her grief and anger were recalled. The regret welling up in her made her lose her speech. She knew the miscarriage was due to her and not to him, but she didn’t want to see him either!
Reggie pulled the blanket down, saw her torn face and her biting the corner of the blanket. Her appearance made him feel sorry for her. He wanted to hug and cuddle her like a big brother would.
“You should stop crying. You’ve recovered now. Sherry, stop crying, do you hear me?” Reggie held her shoulder, “If you want to cry, I’ll lend you my shoulder when you get better. You can cry all you want after that, okay?”
Sherry settled herself properly and gave Reggie a look of gratitude. She stretched out her hands, wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him close, letting her tears flow silently and closing her eyes in sorrow. Why did she feel so much pain even though she knew it was all over?
“Lend it to me now!” she told him.
She felt like crying, a lot!
“I’m talking about lending it to you later, not now!” Reggie felt wetness in her chest.
She threw her head back. Wasn’t she at all worried that the man outside the room would get jealous if he saw her hugging him and crying like that?
She cried harder. Her tears and stains spread across Reggie’s shirt.
“I don’t care, I just feel like crying!”
Sigh! Reggie couldn’t say anything giving a glimpse of his situation right now. He could only hug Sherryand tap her on the back, “Okay, it’s okay. Stop crying, stop crying.”
“I don’t want to cry either, but I can’t stop my tears!” She sniffled and buried her head in Reggie’s chest.
William pitied the scene before him as he stood in the doorway. She was hugging another man and crying but took him as a stranger. She must have been very disappointed in him. He said it was all over!
No. It wasn’t over. He wouldn’t listen to her this time. Not this time. William wrestled with grief as he watched her cry in sorrow. He repressed the sadness and regret in him and dialed Alexis’ number, “Alex, help me investigate the incident that happened today in HF Alley, 300 meters from the MH Residence!” After ending the call, he stood in the doorway, glancing at Sherry.
She had been crying for a long time. Reggie hugged her and comforted her, while he could do nothing about it. William could no longer watch the scene in the living room. He leaned against the wall in the hallway. On his handsome face there was a sense of regret and sorrow.
The baby was gone. That baby – possibly the daughter he had been looking forward to with joy! But what had he done? A little living life was gone just like that.
An infinite sadness grew in his heart, and silence filled it. William covered his face with both hands and sat down on the chair in the hallway. Some water could be seen dripping through his fingers.
The driver watched him from a distance. The Young Master was crying! It was the first time he had seen the Young Master cry.
He lost it for a moment. He wasn’t sure if he should tell the Old Master.
In the room.
Reggie felt the tremors and helplessness of the body in his arms. He felt an impulse of compassion for her, for no reason. He wrapped his arms around Sherry’s body to give her warmth and a sense of security. However, he seemed to be getting some warmth from her as well. Perhaps, she was also helpless underneath him.
“I’m sorry, Reggie!” Sherry came to her senses again. She mumbled an apology and blurted out, “I wet your shirt! Thank you and sorry.”
“Don’t be so polite to me. Haven’t you heard my story too? Get well soon. Aren’t you curious about my relationship with Lucille? Get well soon and I’ll tell you my story.”
She sniffled and nodded, “I’ll get better. I’m Sherry, the unbeatable Sherry.”
Reggie wiped her tears with his handkerchief and let her lie down. “Take a nap. Don’t think about anything.”
Sherry shook her head, “I can’t go to sleep!”
How was she going to feel like sleeping after encountering all this?
“Do you really know Miss Mclean?”
Reggie let out a long, deep sigh and said, “I’m her ex-husband.”
“You’re the sadist?” Sherry realized she uttered an impolite word.
“Is that what everyone says about me?” Reggie raised his eyebrows.
He felt a little helpless, but he neither admitted nor denied it.
All night, William hadn’t gotten his permission to enter the room. He had waited at the door to the living room the whole time and had tried several times to enter, but Sherry had asked Reggie to stop him each time. They seemed to be talking about something and then Sherry fell asleep.
Reggie left the room and left the room to William.
It was now 3:00 a.m.
When William saw Sherry, who was asleep, he felt his emotions welling up.
The pale face made him frown and tremble a little. The experience now was as if he had entered the deepest depths of hell. The words were like a hot iron seal stamping a mark that still burned with pain on her skin. The baby was gone! Her heart ached, but, fortunately, she was still alive. How else would she live the rest of her life?
He walked over to her, bent down and gently hugged her. How could she be so thin? She was getting thinner and thinner. Her face was pale and colorless, as if he could see the pale blood capillaries through her skin. Her heart ached.
Sherry, who was asleep felt something. She felt a warm liquid dripping down her neck. Then she smelled a familiar odor, which belonged to William. He was crying. Her tears made her heart ache even more. She did not open her eyes. She kept her eyes closed. She didn’t know how to face him. Blame him? What should she blame him for? It was her fault for not being careful. It was her fault for not protecting her son. She was sorry.
Sherry could only close her eyes and pretend to sleep as her heart pumped with pain. William held her tightly for a long time. His face showed a complicated look, and he tried to hold back his tears. He sat up, looked at her and whispered. He didn’t seem to notice that she was awake. He spoke only, “I’m glad to see you well. It was my fault. I wasn’t able to protect you. It was my fault. It was my fault…. Sherry, it was all because I didn’t think much of you, didn’t do much for you. I had let you down. That’s why the world punishes me like this…”
William sobbed. Tears rolled down his cheek. What showed on his beautiful face was only pain and sorrow, “You should blame me. It was only fair that you didn’t want to see me! I can’t forgive myself either.” William felt like crying again. –
