Chapter 143:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Hasn’t Mr. Rowland done this before? Didn’t he forbid Mom and William to see each other? Doesn’t the situation now conform to his wishes?” Dan wasn’t about to back down. “William, please come out. Mommy, don’t you want to see him?” Sherry was stunned for a moment before nodding. “Look, my mommy doesn’t want to see William, so please both of you come out.”
“Your mommy never said she doesn’t want to see me!” said John vehemently.
“After all, I don’t like them! Mommy has suffered because of you two, I don’t like that! Samuel, get them out of here!”
“But…” Samuel couldn’t bring himself to do it.
“Then you should get out too! Don’t come to see Mom anymore!” Dan wasn’t going to listen to what they wanted to say.
At this point, he was consumed with rage. He was beyond angry.
“Dan, stop acting like that – Mr. Rowland is your eldest!” Sherry tugged at her son’s shirt.
Only then did Dan stop jabbering. He stopped shying away from John, but instead pulled William from the spot. No one could have foreseen that Dan’s appearance on the scene would worsen John’s chances of being able to see Sherry. He collapsed on a bench and was plunged into a stupor.
Since when was his life such a mess as it was now? Dan was at Sherry’s side for three whole days, and the two children didn’t even go to school.
Sherry had requested a leave of absence without specifying any reason. She only mentioned that there was something that needed her attention.
On the other hand, Cohen had not seen Sherry for three days and was very worried about her. He could not have known that something like this had happened.
In a medical room, Mrs. Howe had handed Sherry some nutritious items.
Sherry was eating soup while John had gone home. Dan and Samuel had fallen asleep in a small bed that John had ordered his chauffeur to buy. After all, they were still children and couldn’t hold out for long. Sherry was able to recover fairly quickly.
The doctor only had to observe her a little longer, and as long as she didn’t bleed, she could be discharged from the hospital very soon.
In spite of this, Mrs. Howe held to the opinion that a woman should have extra confined care after giving birth, because a woman’s body was very valuable. If anything went wrong, one got sick very quickly.
When Sherry finished her soup, she said to Mrs. Howe, “Mrs. Howe, you should go back now. I’ve recovered a lot and I can walk now.”
After three days, Mrs. Howe had become very familiar with Sherry, and remembering William’s appearance in the hallway over the past three days without leaving, she couldn’t help but urge Sherry, “Sherry, the Young Master is just outside the room. You should let him come and see you.”
Sherry felt her body tense up – why was he still here, hadn’t he asked her to come back long ago? It had been three days, AND he was still here!
Mrs. Howe saw that Sherry was caught in a dilemma, so she continued to persuade her, “Young Master didn’t get a good night’s rest for the last three days. When he went to sleep, he would come in to watch him; when he woke up, he would leave the room! The Young Master had never experienced this kind of hardship, as he was spoiled since he was a child. Perhaps he would not be able to take everything into consideration since he was like the typical careless and forgetful man. Even if he is not able to take care of every little detail, he still cares a lot about you! Sherry, please make yourself look good to Young Master again. If you keep ignoring him, I’m afraid he might fall ill!”

“Ask him to come in!” Sherry finally decided.
Mrs. Howe was glad to hear it, “I’ll ask him to come in right now!”
William was sitting on a long bench outside the room, and his eyes were bloodshot. Despite that, he forced himself to stay awake since Sherry still hadn’t forgiven him. He thought of nothing but that.
“Young Master, come in now!” Mrs. Howe grabbed his shirt eagerly. “Sherry is asking you to come in!”
“Really?” William was stunned and raised his head, “Mrs. Howe, are you lying to me?”
“Why should I lie to you? Come in now, I’ll ask the chauffeur to take the children back home to bed, take good advantage of this opportunity!” Mrs. Howe was calling for the chauffeur as she answered him.
As the door opened, Sherry did not see William.
Instead, the chauffeur entered the room and behind came Mrs. Howe with a smiling face.
“But…” Sherry couldn’t finish her sentence as the chauffeur took those two sleeping children away!
William walked in, and Mrs. Howe closed the door to the living room. Sherry glanced at William and discovered that his mustache was longer than before, that he was still wearing the same clothes from three days ago. He had stayed out of the room the last few days, and she knew he came to check on her when she slept.
Sometimes, however, Dan prevented him from coming in, and all she could do was sigh helplessly. Ever since he came in, he just looked at her without saying a word.
He was afraid he would be told to get lost once again after saying something inappropriate.
Sherry looked at William expressionlessly, as she studied his forlorn, bedraggled appearance, his bloodshot eyes, her neutral face flashed a hint of concern for him.
Then she regained her neutral gaze and began, “Why haven’t you come home?”
He froze for a second, and then a look of elation appeared on her face. She was finally willing to talk to him?
“Sherry, are you finally willing to talk to me?” He hurried to her side and sat down in the chair next to the bed.
He watched her face with a certain tenderness. It had been three days, but he would happily accept it if this was what he could expect as a result.
“Go back to sleep now!” Sherry kept her expression expression expressionless as she said that without emotion.
Her face, initially serene, now held a hint of concern. With the way he looked now, there was no difference between him and someone who came from the garbage area. She couldn’t help but frown at the sight of his face decorated with a mustache.
“I don’t want to!” William’s tone revealed his excessive concern for her. He walked over to her bed and wrapped his arms around her as he looked at her with concern, “Don’t ask me to leave, I don’t want to leave you for a second. Please forgive me and give me one more chance. I beg you.”
Sherry was startled and started to push him. However, he did not give in as his strength was much greater.
“Then you should go to sleep first!” she replied.
“Can I go to sleep while I hold on to you?” he was worried that she would let him.
She glanced at his small bed and shook her head, “You can sleep in that little bed over there. There’s not enough room in here. We can talk when you’ve had enough sleep.”
If she kept behaving like this, she would really break down. She wouldn’t want that to happen. Sherry felt her eyes sting, and as she pushed Williams’ body off of hers, she smiled as she tidied her shirt, “If you don’t go to sleep now, I’ll have to ask you to leave and I’ll never see you again!”
“No! I’ll sleep now. I’ll listen to you.” He released her, but remained lying on the edge of the bed as he continued to hold her hand. “I’ll lie here and take a little nap. I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me.”
Was she worried about him? Sherry sighed secretly as she gave in to the fact that she really was worried about him. It was that useless.
When she wanted to take her hand back, she realized that he was gripping her hand tightly, AND he was already asleep with his snoring! She wanted to remove her hand from his, but he didn’t loosen his grip.
“No…” He mumbled something in his sleep with difficulty.
He was between a dream and reality, his original dominant and arrogant self had disappeared without a trace.
All he was left with was infinite pain. Her eyebrows furrowed tightly, and she inadvertently increased her grip on his hand, as if she had come to the conviction that she would no longer let go.
He tried to retrieve her hand, but William had enormous strength all the time, so Sherry was unable to pull it off. She was very weak, and began to tire once again as she let out a yawn.
She looked at William, who was not sleeping, and tried to retrieve her hand, but it was useless, as her hand was trapped in his.
In the silent room, the night grew darker. His steady, regular breathing reverberated in the atmosphere.
When Sherry closed her eyes, William opened his. He didn’t actually fall asleep for real. He knew she hadn’t had enough sleep in the last few days either, and as he watched her peaceful face as she drifted off into the dream world, he planted a kiss on her cheeks longingly.
He tossed the blanket aside and climbed into bed with her. He snuggled in with her and let her rest in his warm embrace. As she was immersed in her sleep, she felt a strange warmth emanating from somewhere near her. Sherry unconsciously moved into that warm embrace and adjusted her posture to one that was comfortable for her.
She continued to sleep smoothly. William did not fall asleep at the end, and his mind kept repeating the result reported by Alexis: “Will, Reggie is Lucille’s husband in France, and they had divorced a year ago. To be more precise, Lucille had been admitted to the psychiatric hospital after their divorce, and in other words, That sexual abuse thing is not legitimate!” William felt his whole body freeze.
The moment he answered that call, he just realized how wrong he had been all along! He had been forming his own speculation on his own, but the truth was far from it. After that, Alexis added, “Actually, Lucille self-inflicted those wounds!”.
It turned out that she had been abusing herself of her own free will, and he had misinterpreted it as her being sexually abused because she couldn’t have a child.
He had felt very sorry for Lucille ever since he had learned of her inability to give birth, but he had never thought of her abusing herself. This mistake had cost him his own child and Sherry’s sorrow.
He had caused himself so much pain. It was unforgivable.
John arrived at the hospital once again, and when he entered the room, he saw William holding Sherry with bloodshot eyes on his face. However, he did not fall asleep at any point.
William just looked at the woman in his arms with a complicated look on his face.
“Come out now!” said John with a frown.
William feared Sherry would be disturbed, so he climbed off the bed and covered her with the blanket before leaving the room.
The father and son duo stood in the hallway, and John looked at William with a disgusted face, “You’re being too nasty, you know that? Go home, take a bath and change your clothes. You’re hanging around the hospital where there are germs everywhere. Don’t you know he’s very weak now? What if he gets infected? I’ll have to wait a long time before I can see my next grandchild.”
“Dad!” William suddenly became worried as he heard his father’s words, “I’ll ask the nurse to change his sheets!”
“I’ll do it myself, just come back now. I’ll take care of her and you don’t have to supervise anything that happens in the company. In this month, you have to make up for your mistakes to my daughter-in-law. You have to make sure that she can regain her happiness and stay healthy. That’s all you have to do,” John said quietly.
John was the kind of person who was tough on the outside but soft on the inside. He was always silent, which made him look cold and distant, but in reality his heart was still bursting with warmth. William nodded and could feel a strange warmth in his body. He knew his father was worried about him and Sherry.
“One more thing, don’t drive. Riley, send Young Master back.” John gave another order.
“Dad, don’t leave here. Wait till I get back, I have something to attend to!” William wanted to get Lucille. This time, he had to find out the truth!
“You have nothing to worry about. I’ll be here, so you don’t have to worry!” John said with a thoughtful expression and added, “I’m not leaving as long as I don’t see you come back here!”
William could finally be calm, and opened the door to take one last look at Sherry who was sleeping.
He reminded his father, “Don’t wake her up, she hasn’t had much rest the last few days!”
“I know!” If he had always been so loving to Sherry, John would not have lost his grandson.
This was karma.
John sighed and walked into the living room. His gaze fell on Sherry’s pale face, and the wrinkles on his face softened.
He looked at her as if she were his real daughter. Although he was very traditional in his way of thinking, but after researching Sherry’s life over the past five years, he couldn’t help but be impressed by this woman.
She had been through so many hardships, but never wavered on her way to her goals.
This woman was worthy of the title Mrs. Rowland. It was one of the reasons he was no longer opposed to their union….
When Cohen finally learned from Reggie that Sherry had suffered a miscarriage, he nearly lost his mind!
He roared into the phone, “Damn it, why would I have a miscarriage? Go to the hospital now!”
