Chapter 153:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Cohen heard Sherry’s scolding from outside the door and felt bad for little Dan. Sammy was standing next to him and holding his hand, even though he didn’t call out to him.
He had to help Dan, “Sherry, I asked for Sammy!”.
Dan turned his head toward and saw Cohen, he couldn’t believe Cohen would lie on his behalf. He said honestly, “Mom, I lied! It’s my fault.”
William felt bad as he came upon Dan’s lonely, dejected expression. He walked over and hugged him, “Sherry, he’s still young! We should forgive him as long as he learns from his mistake!”
“I don’t need your pity!” Dan shoved William away. “I was at fault. I’ll go to my room and reflect on my actions.”
“Dan?” said Sammy, “I’ll go with you!”

“What? I thought we were going to stop a perv4rty… I can’t do that alone.” Cohen tried to make up a story. “Dan, we haven’t accomplished our mission!”
“Mr. Sutton, they’ve made a mistake and should reflect on their action. Don’t help them! Dan, go to your room. Sammy, you can’t go with him. You didn’t do anything, Dan! You did something wrong and that’s why you have to bear this yourself!” Sherry was strict about it.
Dan pouted and felt aggrieved. He bit his lips and said stubbornly, “I’ll go to my room if Mr. Rowland leaves! I don’t want him to bully you, Mom.”
William gaped. He tried to help Dan, but Dan still wanted him to stay away from his mother. What a child! Cohen laughed and exclaimed, “The kid’s right! You should go, William.”
“I’ll go to your room with you!” said William in frustration. He charged Dan and said, “Dan, you haven’t forgiven me, have you?”.
“Well, you didn’t protect Mom!” Dan was surprised that William was willing to be punished along with him, but that didn’t mean he forgave him.
“Which room is your room?” William glanced down the long hallway. “Is that it?”
Dan pouted and walked into the corner room. He stood by one wall of the room and looked up at the wall. He didn’t say anything else after that.
“Dan, why are you treating me like this?” William was puzzled.
He stood next to Dan. It was strange to see two people with very different statures standing side by side, facing the wall. Cohen rubbed his chin with satisfaction and grabbed Sammy’s hand.
He shouted across the hall, “Guys, think about your actions! I’ll go have breakfast with Sammy.”
“I don’t want you here with me!” grumbled Dan.
“Take it as me trying to make it up to you.”
“I don’t need that. I don’t like you either way.”
“Why?”
“I lost my sister because of you, I hate you!” William was speechless.
…
Sherry saw them standing in the corner of the room, both facing the wall. They had similar postures despite being so different in stature.
William turned his head toward at the sound of sounds, saw Sherry, and said, “Sherry!”
“Shut up!” said Dan. He ordered William to shut up.
“Dan, I’m done reconciling with you. You can be alone now, I’ll go escort your mother!” said William as he pursed his lips. He was already walking away.
Dan frowned, “Mom, don’t be with him!”.
He was small, but he was stubborn and self-assured. He declared war on William, he had a stern, serious face.
“Dan, come eat after five minutes!” said Sherry as she ignored William.
“Yes, Mom!” The expression in her eyes then became childish and meek, “Mom…”
It was because she saw William grab her mother by the waist. Sherry pulled William’s hand away, but he merely moved his hand to another part of her body. Dan was shocked.
His eyes filled with concern, “Mom, punish me later, okay?”
“Yes, later!” said Sherry.
She looked at William and patted the hand at his waist. Then she took Dan’s hand and went downstairs with him.
“Mom, I want to sleep with you and Sammy tonight. Let’s go chase the pervert away,” Dan said very seriously.
He turned his head toward William. He noticed that William’s face was twisted and he looked strange.
“Okay, come with me tonight!” Sherry nodded.
Dan blinked and said, “Mr. Rowland, are you going to eat with us?”
Damn it! William rolled his eyes as the two disappeared from his sight. He settled the matter with his father-in-law but he couldn’t handle this kid.
Why was this kid such a know-it-all? Why couldn’t he act more like a kid? He drowned in self-pity. He was abandoned. Should we have more children in the future? These two are more than enough. Sherry might ignore me completely if we have another child.
William felt conflicted!
Cohen noticed Sherry and Dan coming downstairs. He said, “Come and eat!”
“Good morning, Mr. Sutton!” Sherry was quick to say hello.
“Sherry, would you stop calling me that?” Cohen’s hand froze as he scooped out some soup. He caught sight of William, who was coming down the stairs.
Last night he had William try to convince Sherry, but it seemed William was useless. William shrugged his shoulders. Sherry still needed some time and so Cohen couldn’t do anything about it.
After lunch, the two children had to go to school.
Cohen had to go to the office but he wasn’t too sure about leaving William here. He felt conflicted and discouraged.
“Mr. Sutton, don’t worry about me! Go to work,” Sherry said.
“I know!” But Cohen was worried about William.
“I’ll take care of Sherry, don’t worry, father-in-law!” offered William.
“No need, you can come back, I want to be alone for a while!” said Sherry.
“Very well, that’s what my daughter said. Come back, William. Don’t you have to go to work?” cried Cohen.
“No need, I’ll go after Sherry gets better!” said William matter-of-factly.
Cohen felt even more conflicted. Why did Sherry let William stay last night if she hated him? Did she really hate him? But why was she trying to get him to leave now, what was going on?
“You, you heard the lady. I’ll get rid of you myself if you don’t leave. I’m going to the office right now.”
He decided to leave first. William understood what Cohen was trying to tell him. He gently helped Sherry up and said, “Darling, shall we watch some television today?”
He realized that he had never done anything with Sherry. He wanted to make it up to her.
“I don’t want to!” Sherry helped Gracie pack.
She could finally leave in two days. She wanted to do it sooner, but Gracie wouldn’t let her. Gracie told her that she had to rest well after giving birth, or else it would be bad for her health. Then she went upstairs.
Sherry asked sharply as she climbed the stairs, “Is my suitcase at your house?”
The photo album that was filled with pictures of William and Lucille was still in her bag. She guessed that since William hadn’t brought the bag to her, she probably hadn’t seen what was in it.
“Yes!” William nodded. “It’s in the car, I’m going to get it!” So he went to get the bag.
Sherry’s phone rang as soon as she got to the second floor. It was Celia.
“Sherry, Sue is missing, do you know where she is?”
“She said she was going to take a few days off. How come she’s missing?” Sherry felt her heart racing.
“I just wanted to see if you know anything about it. My brother is engaged to Ashley! Their engagement party is coming up next week. Do you know where Sue is?” Celia didn’t want to give up.
The only person who was suitable to marry her brother was Susan!
“Leon is getting engaged to Ashley?” Sherry was shocked by the news. “Sue never got in touch with me. I’ll call her right now, just wait a bit!”
Susan and Leon were a perfect couple, so why was Leon getting engaged to Ashley, what would happen to Sue? Sherry pulled out her phone and called Susan’s number. But Susan’s phone was turned off. So she called the company and was told that Susan had quit.
William arrived on the second floor and noticed that Sherry’s face was pale. He asked in concern, “Sherry, what happened?”
Sherry ignored him and called Celia: “Celia, I couldn’t find her. She has resigned. She told me she had taken a few days off, but the company told me she resigned. Do you know where she lived?”
William didn’t know what had happened, but he knew something was wrong seeing Sherry so nervous. Sherry reluctantly hung up the call and sat down on the couch, “William, do you know where Susan lives?”
William was taken aback, but quickly caught up, “Susan quit her job?”
“Yes!” She nodded. “Leon is getting engaged to Ashley. Susan turned off her phone and we don’t know where she is, can you try to contact her?”
“I can think of something!” William didn’t know about the engagement. The matter seemed serious enough, “I’ll ask Liam for help!”.
William called Liam and Liam was also surprised by the news. The news made everyone worried. William hung up the call and hugged Sherry, “Don’t worry. You need to focus on getting well, don’t think about anything else.”
Sherry sighed, she was depressed, “They were a match made in heaven, why couldn’t they be together? They loved each other so much, but they couldn’t be together – what a tragedy!”
…
William remembered seeing Susan and Cohen together in Japan. It suddenly dawned on him and he quickly called Alexis: “Alexis, help me investigate Susan and find out what she was doing for the last five years, as soon as possible!”
Sherry glared at him, she didn’t understand what William was doing, “Are you going to find her like this?”
“Yes, it’s possible. Sherry, I’m afraid Sue and your father may have a past together!” Sherry was shocked.
She remembered that Susan had told her the other day that she had no relationship with Cohen, even though Sherry had seen them kissing. Gosh, this was getting more and more complicated.
She said worriedly, “William, what are you suspecting?”
“Sherry!” William looked at Sherry seriously and said after a long pause, “I suspect that the father-in-law and Sue had an affair. This could be the reason Sue refused to keep in touch with Leon for the last few years. They were going to get married and suddenly Sue disappeared. And she came back after two years, working as a designer at AVL. Nobody knew where she was for the last two years, it was a mystery. And then we saw them kissing at the airport. There might really be something going on between them.”
“But what would happen with Leon if he really had a relationship with Mr. Sutton?” asked Sherry.
“You should ask your father,” sighed William.
“Well, yes! If Sue really did have an affair with my father, can Leon still accept her? And what about Ashley?” Sherry was totally confused, this was getting too complicated!
