Chapter 155:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
William said, “And she’s got your daddy’s baby in her belly.”
“Oh my!” Sherry covered her mouth with her hand, trying to keep from screaming.
William shook his head and asked, “Could you accept that your daddy has a new baby even younger than your son?”
Sherry stood in awe without saying anything to him. In the study of Cohen’s house there was a tall man smoking by the window. He went blank at that moment and seemed to forget to flip the much ash from his cigarette.
It was evening; Sherry was encouraged to come over to Cohen Sutton who was standing alone by the window. He was trying to say something but couldn’t get a word out. This was her biological father. But Sherry didn’t know how old he was, what he liked and what his hobby was; she still hadn’t called him ‘dad’, nor had she asked him how he knew Mrs. Jones.
She refused to know the whole truth because she hated to betray Clark. Sherry would always keep in mind that it was Clark who raised her; he was her father forever. However, seeing the lonely man, Sherry still felt some sadness.
It could be because of the biological relationship; she was still worried about seeing him like this. She also felt selfish seeing Susan with him for the rest of his life. How she wished she could forget the love between Susan and Leon! He hated being so selfish.
Sherry called out to him in a lower, huskier voice slowly, “Chief…”
Cohen turned and was surprised, “Sherry, you’re here.”
Sherry saw him but didn’t know what to say. Cohen continued to ask with great attention, “What happened, aren’t you happy with William?”
“No!” Sherry was touched by his continued concern for her; she knew he was trying to make up for his absence for years. Unfortunately, she was no longer a child.
“¿Y?”
“Susan…”
“Uh!” Cohen’s eyes followed Sherry but said nothing; he was waiting for her to say something. Sherry raised her head to look at him and said slowly, “Susan is pregnant…”
Cohen was stunned by these words; he lost his mind. Susan had a baby? Sherry passed him a piece of paper on which was an address verified by William: “This is her address! She lives in a simple house. I hear she’s going to deliver the baby.”
Cohen took a minute to accept it. The information made him try to explain to Sherry, “Sherry, I’ll take care of it. You are my only daughter forever. All my wealth will belong to you. Anyone else can’t take it.”
“Boss, that’s not what I’m talking about. I won’t take your wealth.” Sherry felt embarrassed and shook her head; she didn’t understand what he meant, “How will you manage?”
Cohen finished his cigarette and picked up his coat to leave. He said, “Don’t worry, I’ll be on my way.”

Sherry thought he was going to pick up Susan. But she was wrong; she misunderstood Cohen.
Susan left for G-town, which was about two hundred miles from H-town.
At midnight, when Cohen knocked on the door, she was very surprised to see him outside her house. She looked displeased as she held the door frame and covered her chest, “Why are you here?”
Cohen looked at her and said, “Do you have a baby?”.
Susan didn’t expect him to ask the question, she just looked at the handsome man who sounded cold. She asked him, angrily, “How did you know?”
“Is it mine?” Cohen was annoyed and pinched Susan’s chin. Even though he didn’t want to, he had to tell the trembling Susan, “Susan, you can’t keep it.”
He wasn’t that cruel; he just didn’t like Sherry being sad. She was forty-five and no longer young, fifteen years older than Susan. Even Sherry’s son was five years old; how was she going to let the baby come into the world? Cohen also feared that Sherry would not admit him as her father once the baby was born.
At that moment, all he wanted was to be admitted by his daughter. Susan burst into tears shortly after hearing what he said; she couldn’t believe it and shook her head, “No! It’s none of your business. It’s my baby! I won’t let it go. It has nothing to do with you; I’ve had another man. You can’t ask me to interrupt him.”
“Susan, I know it’s mine. You’re not the kind of woman you’re talking about. But Susan, don’t keep it!” Cohen clenched his fists.
He hated himself for doing it too! Susan calmed down and said, “Fuck you!” She pushed him toward the door.
Keegan, on the stairs, listened to the talk between them. He came to understand why Cohen had to be here so late at night; he knew Cohen very well from having been with him for years.
Keegan believed Cohen was doing it for Sherry. Just then, Cohen said, “Susan, you know I’ve never been a loser. Now, please, will you come with me to the hospital or shall I drive you?”
Susan said with tears in her eyes, “Why are you doing this to me?”
He said, “I’m sorry, I have to do it for my daughter.”
Susan looked at the heartless Cohen and realized that words would do nothing to change his mind. She asked, “Because of Sherry, does she know I’m pregnant?”
“Sure, she told me.” Susan became dizzy on the spot; she had long since stopped feeling that way, but now she was shivering, nauseous, dizzy, and almost fainted. Although she stopped crying, she said with some tear mark on her face, “Cohen, he’s three months old.”
“I know!” Cohen said just as sadly, “But I have Sherry.”
Susan said in a high-pitched voice, “But I don’t have anything! Can you leave our story as a dream, I’m just asking to keep the baby! The doctor said I’m not strong enough to terminate the baby. And I’m over thirty; I want the baby more than everything else! Please let me have it.”
Cohen closed his eyes to say, “I’m so sorry.”
Hearing that, Susan felt very disappointed. She touched her belly where there was a three-month-old baby: “Cohen, it’s your son!”.
She closed the door and carried Susan in her arms to the couch. Then she sat there again. They were both silent. Susan got a whiff of cigarette smell from him, which pushed her to accept the truth. He came to ask her for the abortion as a priority. She felt too heartbroken, as if a part of her body was abandoning her. This was an easy condo where it was nicely decorated. In addition, Susan bought a crib, toys, a small bed as well as some colorful fabrics for the baby.
Cohen took a look at the condo, which was not very spacious but very nice. Susan must have made a big deal about the baby. Susan stopped crying and curled up on the couch. She tried to control her tears and encouraged herself to calm down. However, she bit her lips to draw some blood.
She was helpless at that point and looked pale. Cohen held out his hands to Susan. Would he kill her baby? It hurt her to the core.
But…he’d be so glad to get it if he didn’t have Sherry. Anyway, he had Sherry as his daughter that he had lost for so many years. He had to try to be nice to her, so, he had to hurt Susan.
Cohen said, “Come on.”
Susan shook her head hard and screamed, “No! No!”
Cohen was a little worried to see the frightened Susan, but still gave a look of peace and thought in his mind, “Don’t keep it. You will be free to love anyone else. Don’t tell him your story and you’ll have a better life.” In the end, he didn’t say it out loud; he knew he had to be cruel to Susan and said, “We can’t keep it anyway!”
Susan was sure she was a person of her word. She wasn’t strong enough to fight him. To Cohen, she was as small as an ant.
Susan tried her best to promise him, “Please let me keep him for the last night.”
That didn’t change Cohen’s mind. He looked at the small bed and said, “You are young, you can have one with your true love. You will have a beautiful child and live a happy life. We have to go now! Don’t waste time.”
It was hard for Susan to promise him, but she still agreed. She tried to stand up shaking. She didn’t seem to be in shape due to the illness in early pregnancy. She wobbled, almost falling. Cohen soon reacted to hold her waist. He saw that she was not well and reproached her, “You’ve lost a lot of weight, how have you been taking care of yourself?”
She kept silent controlling the tears and felt very disconsolate. Reaching the door, Susan turned around to hold Cohen’s neck where she hid her face. She said, “Please leave him with me, I promise not to interrupt you forever! You can let us go wherever you want. We won’t see you anymore. I promise. Please leave him with me. Please!” She screamed.
Cohen tried to hold her back, but stopped in mid-air to let her cry. She was in pain.
After a while, he hugged Susan and closed his eyes. A tear fell from her eye; it was so soon that Susan didn’t see it. Cohen said nothing, which depressed Susan. She knew she had failed to persuade him.
If he changed his mind so easily, he would not be the one she knew well. Letting go of his arms and looking at him, Susan said with tear-filled eyes, “Okay, end it if you don’t like it.” She watched his face and eyes. Although he was not young, he was a charming but cold man. She knew he was too scary. “Come on!” she said.
Susan regretted begging him one more time.
