Chapter 161:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
At this point, she was still a little afraid of what he might suddenly do to her. The memory of forcing her to have an abortion that day was so bad that she felt scared every time she remembered it. That’s why every time he came near her, she instinctively flinched.
“Susan, you can’t come out!” Cohen suddenly tightened his arms. Hugging her, he whispered, “I promise I’ll never hurt you again!”
“I want to get out!” said Susan weakly, not rejecting his embrace, but murmuring, “Let me go! You said I’m free!”
Then she let go of his hand, loaded her bag and headed for the exit. He let go of her hand and leaned in the doorway to give her a look.
“Stop!” he finally spoke. Her body stiffened and she stopped dead in her tracks. Closing her eyes to hide her nervousness, she looked at him again.
“What do you want?” He wrapped his arms around his chest and merely stared at her with eyes glowing like torches, but said nothing more.
She hesitated, not knowing what to do. If she left and he didn’t let her go, it would all be for nothing. But she really didn’t know how to stay here any longer. Stay as what, his mistress? Not anymore, she was free now.
“Go back to your room and stay there!” She urged him, not allowing him to refuse.
“You can’t imprison me anymore!” She hesitated a moment, couldn’t help but say.
“I’m not imprisoning you! But you can’t leave!” Cohen said in a muffled voice, his tone commanding.
…
At that moment, Susan’s phone rang. Cohen looked at her and his eyes fell on her purse.
“Your call!” He said.
She had no choice but to go back to her room and answer the phone, only to find that it was Leon calling. She heard the deep, gravelly voice on the other end of the phone, “Susan, I’m getting engaged!”
She was stunned, her expression stiffening even though she had known.
“Congratulations, Leon!”
“Don’t you have anything to tell me?” asked Leon.
Cohen didn’t leave, instead standing in the doorway watching Susan talk on the phone. She unconsciously turned her head to look at Cohen, then said with a distant expression on her face, “Congratulations to you and Miss Jones. I wish you to be forever in love, grow old together, and have your baby soon.”
“Do you really mean it from the bottom of your heart?”

“Yes! They are my true words!” she said, but her eyes fell on Cohen. “You have to be happy~!”
“William and Sherry have come!” Leon said. He paused, he didn’t expect them to come to him, so did he know about their current situation?
Then he said, “You don’t have to take it to heart!”
“Then come to my engagement party!” she added. “If you want me to attend, I’ll be there for sure!” His tone was euphemistic, while his face was pale, but still showed a faint smile.
“Miss Jones is beautiful, you should marry her sooner instead of getting engaged!” If they had married instead of getting engaged, perhaps she would now be Mrs. Hickman, instead of Cohen’s mistress!
“Then come over the day after tomorrow!” Leon said, “I’m hanging up!”
“Okay, bye!” It was such a simple call, and Cohen waited for him to finish.
“Is Leon getting engaged?” he asked quietly.
“Yes!” Susan nodded.
“Do you still love him?” he asked again.
She didn’t answer his question, just said, “We’ll never go back to the way we were!”
“I see!” He nodded as he turned and walked out without another word.
Susan was stunned for a moment. She looked at his departing back, wondering what he meant….
The next day. Leon’s engagement party was held at his own restaurant. Huge baskets of flowers were placed on both sides of the restaurant entrance. Flowers, balloons, banners, all signified the grand and warm atmosphere.
Leon’s parents, Payne and Sierra were at the entrance to greet the guests. Although it was only an engagement party, it was as ostentatious as a wedding ceremony, as the only daughter of the Jones Family was getting engaged.
Leon didn’t look too happy. He was wearing an overstuffed suit and standing in the doorway, as if waiting for someone.
Sherry and Susan had already arrived. When they had just arrived, Sherry sat in the car and watched the scene from afar, while Susan, in the back seat, looked nonchalant.
“Let’s get out!” Susan said.
“Okay!” After looking at each other, Sherry and William also got out of the car.
Liam’s laughter could be heard in the distance, “Hey! I didn’t think we’d be meeting here, do you have time for us to have drinks together?”
Sherry turned her head, saw Liam behind them and Sarah standing next to him. When they were together, they seemed perfect for each other. Sarah was smiling brightly next to Liam.
William looked at the entrance of the restaurant in the distance, “Fuck off!”.
Liam didn’t mind this and said with a smile, “Will, you’ve been decadent for a long time. If you keep this up, Mr. Rowland is going to be pissed! When are you going back to work?”.
William frowned as soon as he heard he had to go back to work. “Damn you!”
It suddenly occurred to Sherry that he had been keeping her company for the past few days and didn’t seem to have mentioned going to work. “Yeah, when are you going to work?”.
“Leon’s already at the door!” William reminded them as he looked at Susan.
With that, they all gave him a concerned look. “Sherry, long time no see!” Liam greeted Sherry after shrugging his shoulders.
“Hi, Liam, hi, Sarah!” Sherry greeted them.
Since Sarah knew that Sherry was William’s girlfriend, her attitude towards Sherry became much closer. “Sherry, when are you and William getting married?”
A blush rose up Sherry’s face instantly. She hadn’t thought about it. “This must wait until Will proposes to Sherry first! How will they get married without a proposal?”
Liam smacked Sarah upside the head. “Well, let’s cut the pleasantries and go inside!” Liam then walked over to Susan and whispered gently, “Susan, you’re finally willing to show yourself! When I look at you, it scares the hell out of me because you look like you’re about to come out.”
“What are you talking about!” Susan shook her head and couldn’t help but giggle, her hand caressing her belly. She was glad she had a baby now, and the rest didn’t matter anymore. “We should bless Leon and Ashley!” After these words, Susan took the lead and walked in a straight line. Everyone stood stunned behind her.
“Will, do you think Susan is in a normal state of mind now? Why do I think she’s changed? She looks at Leon like she’s watching a movie screen, and he instantly becomes as transient as fleeting clouds to her. Is there something wrong with my eyes and am I misreading him?” muttered Leon.
William glared at him. “No, your eyes are sharp, she has changed! And she has become impenetrable.”
After saying that, William took Sherry’s hand and walked toward the restaurant. Susan’s arrival took Mr. Hickman and Mrs. Hickman by surprise. Sherry’s arrival, on the other hand, made Sierra’s face pale.
“Mr. Hickman, Mrs. Hickman, Congratulations!” Susan greeted them politely and turned to Leon to his surprise. “Leon, congratulations!”
Sherry and William also approached Mr. Hickman and Mrs. Hickman to greet them, however, Sherry turned a deaf ear to Sierra until the end. Leon’s expression revealed a contradictory feeling, as he gave a glance at Susan’s indifferent face, he suddenly regretted it, couldn’t he compromise?
He looked again at the mottled faces of his parents, and wondered what was the reason Ashley hadn’t come yet. They all went upstairs together, and the guests almost all arrived, just waiting for the bride.
“Susan, wait!” Leon stopped Susan, who was walking in front of him.
Susan stopped for a moment, then took two more steps forward uncontrollably. Then she stopped and turned around with a slight smile on her face. She put her hand on her belly, as if seeking her baby’s strength. She knew she had to go upstairs, but some things had to be settled once and for all, so that her heart would die and his too, instead of waiting in situ like a fool again.
But her feet seemed to be immobilized, and she couldn’t move them in any way. She merely looked at Liam, then smiled and asked, “What’s wrong?”
The expression on Leon’s face was complicated and torn. He had turned thirty, perhaps no longer an enthusiastic young man, and his face was no longer young. His face had made her heart flutter, but now it all seemed to have really passed….
She stood blankly, her eyes fixed on the figure walking toward her. He stopped in front of her. The scent that was familiar to her before, but now unfamiliar to her, immediately enveloped her.
She moved her lips and heard herself say, “Leon, where is your fiancée?”
“Do you really want me to marry her?” He walked over to her, then took her by the hand and led her to a corner of the second floor where she was away from the crowd and out of sight.
Susan froze as his perfumed breath brushed her face, making her even more dizzy and feeling as if she were in a dream.
“Leon, today is the day you get engaged!” She tried to remind him in a euphemistic tone.
Suddenly, Leon leaned toward her, imprinting passionate kisses on her forehead, her eyes, her nose, and finally her lips. She didn’t move, but… How long had it been since she’d felt such a sensation, how unfamiliar it had become, she thought.
She closed her eyes and a tear slipped from the corner of her eye. There was only a drop and it was gone in an instant. Then he nudged Leon, “I’m sorry, Leon, we can’t go back anymore!”
“Really?” his voice was husky with a biting sadness.
“Really, I’m pregnant, I’ve been pregnant for over three months!” She smiled, her face flushed and she smiled especially brightly.
Her smile dazzled his eyes and made him tingle. He froze. Even though he knew she had been in a relationship with someone else for the past five years and that her life wasn’t that simple, Leon was shocked the moment he heard her talk about herself.
“Who?”
“Leon, I’m in love with someone else. He’s the baby’s father,” she said calmly. The moment she uttered the words, pain shot through her heart. The feeling was so real, and the trembling heart was so painful. Was it self-deception? She didn’t know! Really!
“Are you in love with someone else?” murmured Leon, repeating the words.
“Yes!” She smiled weakly and was about to walk out of the corner. But he grabbed her hand.
“Have you been with that man all these years?”
She wanted it all cleared up once and for all, so she said, “Yes, I was with him every night, every night!”
He froze completely! He shook his hand vigorously and walked out of the corner, but he didn’t expect to run into Celia on his way out. Celia looked at Susan with a dumbfounded expression, “Is it true you’ve been with another man?”.
Susan saw that Celia’s face had clouded over. “Yes!” With a snap, a handprint was imprinted on Susan’s face.
She turned her face and bit her lip without surprise. Celia glared at her.
“How can you do this to Leon, don’t you know how much he loves you? I thought they could rebuild the relationship if you came today, but I never thought you’d bring someone else’s son to his engagement party. You really are so cruel!”
