William said nothing when he heard Peter’s name; although he was surprised by it, he seemed to be calm just then and asked, “Please check his background. I need to know the motive.”

As he hung up the call, he remained calm with an idea in his mind.

Liam asked, “Do you have any information?”

“Not yet.” William denied and asked further, “Liam, what is it buddy?”.

Liam didn’t understand why William asked him that question. He answered after thinking for a while, “Friend is someone you can call in the middle of the night; first he will worry about what happened to you and, after he knows you are okay, he will start complaining because you call him late at night! Friend is someone who can give up everything in the world for his lover, but he can also give her up for you. Friend is someone who laughs you out loud when you feel embarrassed, but definitely gives you a helping hand after all. Friend is someone who doesn’t dare to die for you, as well as someone who would love to get drunk with you during the night.”

William said quietly, “If your friend betrays you…”.

Liam replied seriously, “He wouldn’t be my friend anymore!”.

“You might have some problems. I believe you.” William said, “We’re coming. Park the car, please, and wait for me.”

Liam became concerned about him and asked, “Are you okay to go alone?”

William said with a smile, “She doesn’t know I’m here. Maybe she’s safe. But please take my body if I’m dead.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me!” Liam slapped William’s face and said, “If she did, I’d let her take it back!”

William nodded; he knew Liam was a true friend of his. As for Peter, he didn’t believe that Peter, whom he had known for years, had betrayed him.

Lara rented an old apartment in G-town.

William got out of the car and drove to her apartment. After knocking on the door, she heard the familiar voice: “Who is it, please?”.

Lara didn’t expect William to come to see her. She was surprised as soon as she opened the door to see him.

William said coldly, “Long time no see, Lara!”

Lara was overwhelmed by his voice and opened her eyes wide. She was not at ease to see William, whom she would never forget in her entire life.

“Hello, Mr. Rowland?” called Lara to William a minute later and watched him.

From the look on his face, she wasn’t sure what he knew, or had she found his secret? William walked over and looked at her with no particular reaction, just said, “How are you?”

“Thank you for asking. I’m fine.” Lara controlled her mind; she had to realize before that day would come. She asked, “What can I do for you today? I was going out.”

William walked into the room, “Am I not welcome?”

Lara had to let him in.

This was a clean condo that had probably just been tidied up. She closed the door and turned to see the tall man. He was her favorite and familiar man; he haunted her a lot but then left her. He was the one who kept her from returning to H-Town.

Lara tried to ask William, “Mr. Rowland, are you here to…?”.

William turned around and pinched her chin hard, “Lara, you’re too big a girl to do anything. Tell me why.”

Lara avoided looking him in the eye and said, “I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”

William looked at her angrily and Lara could feel his breath and catch his anger from his eyes.

William asked, “Lara, wasn’t I nice to you?”

“Mr. Rowland, you are always a man of your word, why do you say that?” Weak Lara gave a glance at William, who was staring at her.

She believed that William must have known that she had told the newspaper editor something. However, he must not have known that there was another partner involved. Lara intended to destroy the Rowland Group. Even if she didn’t get any benefit from the plan, she wouldn’t get anything for doing nothing either. William smiled slightly and it was a little scary.

After a while, William pushed her down on the couch and said, “Stop, Lara.”

Lara sat still to say, “Mr. Rowland, I didn’t understand what you said.”

“Good! Lara, good girl! Do you really hate me?” William said mockingly.

“Are you kidding me? I’ve kept my promise to never come back to H-Town again. Are you coming to see your ex-girlfriend today? Or did Sherry not make you happy and that’s why you miss me? Well, if you really want to fuck me now, I won’t say no. Don’t waste your time for some excuse. You can come now.” By then, Lara started to take off her dress.

William narrowed his eyes. He said, “Lara, would you rather humiliate yourself than stop your plan?”

Just then, Lara took off all her clothes and stood in front of William naked, “Mr. Rowland, am I still beautiful after a long time without seeing me?”

William watched her without any reaction; he was not excited about seeing Lara here, “If you like being a whore, you can go to a Southeast Asian country.” These words were like a knife stuck in his heart.

Lara saw no lust from William, who was so gloomy then. She was astonished but still tried to do it. Suddenly, she rushed to William and hugged him, “Mr. Rowland, I miss you so much!”.

William didn’t react, just gave her a look at his face. Lara touched and rubbed him, but he remained calm. She had doubts about it. She didn’t think he would reject her for the way she was acting. Sexy Lara was embarrassed and angry at his failure. She was almost getting angry.

William saw the change in Lara’s look and smiled, which scared her. He was totally indifferent to her.

Lara gave up and soon turned away from looking him in the eyes, “If you didn’t come for him, there’s no point in staying here anymore.” She turned to the couch and got dressed.

William didn’t see her naked body from the beginning; he had no chemistry with Lara because she wasn’t like Sherry.

In his future, Sherry would be the only one he would love; it was impossible for him to become obsessed with any other. He could control himself.

William gave her a slight smile, “If you don’t stop what you’re doing to me, I’ll have to do something too. Lara, I will send you to a southeastern country. You will be happy with lots of boys at night there.”

Lara understood what he said and felt nervous. William intended to sell her to some nightclubs there to serve those men.

No! She couldn’t go! William would not let her come back once she left. It would ruin her whole life. However, Lara knew he wouldn’t admit it and she had to keep calm.

“Mr. Rowland. I don’t understand.”

She believed that William wouldn’t do anything to her only if she denied everything. Lara tried to persuade herself in her mind and finally worked up the courage to get back at him.

William, I won’t give up! Even if I stop, Peter won’t agree. He has a great plan, she thought.

William had a slight cough and gave her a look, “Excuse me.” He picked up his phone to dial a number, “Call some guys to keep an eye on Lara.”

These easily spoken words shocked Lara. She said, “No! William Rowland, you can’t do that to me! It’s illegal. You can’t lock me in here. I’m calling the police.”

William scoffed and held Lara’s shoulders tightly. He said coldly and slowly, “To me, you’re not smart enough to be up to something.”

Lara was taken aback and said, “Am I wrong for loving you so much?”

She couldn’t be more of William’s friend – what a sad question. But William looked at her and calmly replied, “Love? Have we loved each other before? We have only had an exchange. It’s you who ask too much of me. Do you think you can wipe out the whole group? Lara, don’t be silly. I’m really interested to know how much Peter paid you to let you do all this to me.”

“You…” Lara hadn’t expected that at all.

William came to know that Peter was involved.

At that moment, Lara’s cell phone received a call. She rushed to pick it up, but William picked it up before she did and saw that the caller’s name was P.

He asked with a frown, “P for Peter?”.

Lara lowered her head and said, “Since you know everything, I admit it. I did all this only because I hate being ignored by you all the time.”

William handed her the cell phone, “No one has ever looked down on you. Only yourself. Answer his call and talk normally. I promise I won’t send you to the police station. If you don’t agree, go to Southeast Asia.”

Lara was startled by the words and said, “Okay, I do.”

She answered the call but heard nothing except someone breathing. Lara knew that smart Peter tried not to talk like the first one.

She said, “Speaking please.”

As soon as he heard Lara, Peter started talking, “Why are you answering me so late?”.

Lara looked at William and said quietly, “I was taking a shower.”

“Send the second document.”

“Now?”

“Sure!” Peter soon hung up the call.

Then Lara looked at William again and said, “He asked me to send the document that will bring trouble to your group.”

After thinking for a while, William asked, “How did you get these documents?”

“Peter gave them to me.” said Lara and then pulled out a USB flash drive.

William nodded, “Ok. Please stay here until the problem is solved. I will keep the promise I made to you.”

Just then, Lara heard someone walking toward her condo.
