Chapter 91:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Alexis said, “Will, make it a hundred million yuan. we’ll split up after it’s over!
“Looks like you’re not hungry enough this time!” William lifted the corner of his lips in a faint smile.
“I don’t have much time – make it half an hour!”
Alexis curved her lips and added, “The old rules, we’ll split it!”
“Agreed!” William smiled in response.

The two approached and, although they were both Orientals, they had bodies that were not like Western bodies, which are usually bulky. Instead, they were lean and slender. They wore black suits and sported black hair.
It was a sight to behold, the way they were joking with each other.
“Who is that?” someone asked, but there was no one to answer. They both looked very arrogant and stubborn, and after exchanging one last look, they disappeared into their respective suites. The suite was barely a few hundred square feet, but the floor was carpeted with luxurious carpeting.
It looked so majestic that it was vertigo-inducing. Waiters and waitresses were standing by around the suite, ready to take orders. There was a row of champagne and wine on the shelf on one side.
The long table set up for the game was a few feet long, but there were only two men sitting on opposite sides. They were facing each other.
William was sitting at one end of the table and casually lighting a cigarette. His gaze swept over the other man across from him. Across from him was a white man in his thirties. He also had a cigarette dangling from his fingers and his blue eyes were fixed on William.
After taking a puff, he held out the card in his hands and laughed maniacally, “A couple of Kings!”.
He was very confident of his chances of victory because he had a pair of kings in his hands. One was black and the other red.
If William wanted to win, he would have to have a pair of aces, one black and one red. The white man could not convince himself that William had that lucky break.
In fact, the game needed a lot of luck and experience for someone to succeed, leaving aside the chances of someone cheating. William lightly flipped the card in his hands and discarded it on the table. He wasn’t even glancing at his cards.
Instead, he was examining the expression on the white man’s face. What he saw was an increasingly pale face.
“Mr. Rowland is the winner of this round!”
The waiter announced and pushed all the chips to William’s side of the table.
The white man had a defiant look on his face. William was incredibly lucky. He narrowed his eyes and focused his sharp gaze on William across from him.
He mused, “Mr. Rowland, you have a great stroke of luck. I’m impressed.”
William quirked a slight smile on his lips as he looked into the white man’s eyes just as sharply.
He asked in English, “One more round?”
“Let’s do it!” The white man was letting himself go now. All he wanted now was to get back what he had lost before.
William smiled faintly, “I’d advise you not to continue playing for now…”
Then he paused slightly and added: “Because you’ll never win against me!”.
He was so arrogant and proud that all the other spectators were momentarily stunned.
The white man let out a cold laugh, “Mr. Rowland, you speak big words. Whether you win or not is not up to you.”
I didn’t want to believe that William had any luck until the end!
William twisted his eyebrows and surveyed his surroundings. Suddenly, he announced, “However, I no longer have any interest in this bet!”
“You!” The white man frowned, “Are you afraid of failure?”
“I’m afraid you can’t stand the outcome!” William smiled playfully and replied, “I’m not afraid of anything!”
“Is that so?”
“Tell me, how much are you willing to bet?”
White bought himself another set of chips, “Ten million dollars?”
“That’s too little!” William smiled as he bought his own chips, “Fifty million dollars. All at once. You dare to challenge me?”
He glanced at his watch. Fifteen minutes had passed, so he had another fifteen minutes to go. He didn’t want to be later than Alexis.
Meanwhile, Alexis was able to finish his game faster thanWilliam, which made him lose face. The white man froze for a moment. He was obviously shocked.
“I think you should know your limits. You shouldn’t go through with this bet.”
William laughed, “You dare not accept the challenge!”.
The white man’s temper flared at William’s dismissive attitude, “Deal! I’ll bet fifty million dollars on this round!”
“All at once! I don’t have any more time to entertain you!” William repeated confidently, “You sure you’re okay with that?”
He didn’t want to get into a scuffle over the amount they were betting.
It would be too much trouble!
“Hmph! I’m okay with doing this all at once!” The white man replied arrogantly, “You won’t be so lucky this time!”.
A trace of a smile came across William’s perfect features, but his eyes did not reflect that smile at all.
“Let’s get started!”
The bartender got the signal and began shuffling the cards. Then, he started dealing the cards. William was the bookie this round. The first cards didn’t end up on the table.
The waiter dealt the second card and it was revealed that white got a black queen spade while William got a red number two spade.
He was at a considerable disadvantage. The white man hid both cards in his hands and began to reveal his other card while narrowing his eyes.
It turned out that he had gotten a number ten black spade, which made him smile. William smiled faintly, and his eyes sparkled with a glint of confidence. He wasn’t anxious to know what card he’d gotten when the bartender began dealing his third cards.
The white man was dealt a black spade, while William was dealt a red number three spade. They were getting consecutive cards with the same symbols, which meant there was a high chance that they would both get a straight flush soon.
The white man’s smile was getting wider and wider. There were three cards in his hands that were in order and with the same symbols.
Fifty million dollars, he was going to get fifty million dollars soon! William seemed unfazed for the moment. With an impressive aura emanating from his body, he leaned against the back of his chair lazily and watched his opponent in front of him.
In his eyes was a hint of impatience since ten minutes had passed. This game was going with the speed of a turtle. The bartender handed them the next cards, and white got a black king spade. He had a total of four black spades in his hands, and on the other hand William got a red number four spade.
They were both missing the most important card now. The white man grew impatient and shouted, “Quickly, quickly! Deal the card now.”
The waiter dealt the last card, and the white man got a diamond number nine card. He was only one card short of getting a straight.
On the other hand, William got a red spades card, and the number printed on it was number five. That would mean that the card face down on the table had to be an ace of red spades for him to win this round. If that didn’t happen, white would win instead. The atmosphere was a bit nervous as they both waited expectantly. The white man’s breathing became a bit labored as he waited for William to reveal his last card.
Everyone present was waiting with bated breath. William merely smiled faintly and, with a snap, revealed his last card.
At the same time, he announced, “I’m the winner!”.
He was treating everything as if it were the most natural course of progression, “Harold, this is the end, pick up my chip now!”
Everyone could see he had a perfect straight flush.
He actually won fifty million dollars with such ease!
At that moment, a man in a black suit appeared from behind William. He walked toward the tables solemnly to retrieve the white man’s bargaining chips.
“No! I want to bet again – this doesn’t count!”
This amount was his everything. He had sacrificed everything for this round! There was no way he was coming back a loser.
“I want another round now. Don’t go!”
In an instant, a few bodyguards blocked the white man, and William turned around gracefully and spoke his last words here, “Harold, pass the word to Alexis that I’ll be waiting for him in the parking lot!”
“The young master is already there waiting for you!” replied Harold in a low voice.
“Uh, looks like he’s still faster than me!” William was not at all surprised as he marched into the parking lot.
In the parking lot, seeing William’s arrival, a bodyguard opened the car door for him.
“You are later than me by only three minutes. You’ve improved from last time.”
Alexis glared at him, “I hope you can shorten the time to two minutes next time!”.
“Are you so sure I won’t be able to beat you?”
“Not anytime soon!” Alexis was very sure.
“Let’s go! I’m catching a flight soon.”
“Where are you going?” William raised his eyebrows, “I just got back from vacation, but you’re leaving now?”
“I’m sending you back and I’m going back myself!” There was a trace of a smile in Alexis’ eyes, “Aren’t you going to keep an eye on the Rowland Group personally?”
“My body is still fine, so there’s no need for me to retire anyway. I’m afraid you’ll get schizophrenia if you’re at the helm too long, so I think it’s a good idea to let you suffer a bit.” replied William casually.
Suddenly, he furrowed his eyebrows and asked, “Why do you want to come back all of a sudden? I thought you didn’t want to come back anymore.”
Alexis was silent for a while and then handed William a cigarette.
They both lit their cigarettes and a distant look entered Alexis’ eyes. However, she remained silent.
William asked no more questions, seeing that Alexis had remained silent.
The car was shrouded in deep silence, but suddenly, a ringing sound broke that silence.
William frowned and glanced at the screen of his phone. The wrinkles on his forehead gradually loosened, and a gentle look entered his gaze.
Alexis did not miss this subtle change of emotion on his face, and was surprised that William had this gentle side.
At that moment, William answered the call softly, “Hello?”
“William, Sammy’s been taken away by your father!” Sherry’s wails sounded on the other end.
“He said I could never see my son again. Please pray and pass a word for me, I really can’t live without Sammy!”
Hearing that, William frowned even more, “When did this happen?”
“Uh, it’s been over twenty hours. He’s moved Sammy to another kindergarten, and I couldn’t find him after looking for him in over twenty different kindergartens. William, now I’m really scared.”
“Where are you now?” If she remembered correctly, it was midnight back home.
“I’m home!” Sherry sounded as if her tears were going to come at any moment.
“I’ve been looking for him all day, but there was no sign of him…”
“Stay home, don’t go anywhere. Wait for him to come back.” William comforted her in a honeyed voice. Alexis studied William with her depthless eyes, “Is something wrong?”
“Not much!” William sketched a faint smile, but the frown lines between his brows were still there. Sherry leaned back on the couch and hung up the phone.
She was feeling a little better after getting William’s word on the matter. She was beyond exhausted after running around all day.
She was busy with Sammy during the day, and at night she still had to drive Dan back home. I was just plain exhausted.
“Mom, drink some water!” Dan rubbed his eyes as he poured Sherry a glass of water.
“Thanks, Dan!” Sherry accepted the glass and gave Dan an apologetic look. Tonight she didn’t cook him any dinner. She simply bought something for him to eat.
“Mom, you should go to sleep now. Sammy was taken away by Grandpa, he’s not a bad guy. We’ll be fine when Uncle comes back, won’t we?” Dan tried to comfort her.
“Yeah, you’re right. You go to sleep too, Dan. I’ve got a lot on my mind right now, so listen to me and go to sleep.” Sherry sent him to his room.
Dan watched Sherry’s helpless expression and a solemn look appeared on her innocent face. He imagined his birth parents’ reaction when he was separated from them. He wondered if they would now be as distraught as Mom, knowing their son was lost.
Remembering their abandonment, a lonely face appeared on Dan’s little face.
“Sleep now, okay!” Sherry stroked his face.
“Yes! Good night, Mom!” Dan nodded hurriedly with a smile on his face.
Only when Sherry turned away anxiously with Sammy on her mind did the same lonely face return to Dan.
Did Mom only care about Sammy now, he wondered.
He furrowed his eyebrows as he pondered it.
Sammy was Mom’s son, so why had his grandfather taken him away from her? No way, he had to go take a look. He had to return Sammy to Mom’s side.
After closing the door, Dan turned on his computer to look up information on the location of the Rowland Family villa. He pointed out the location on a map and vowed to talk to Sammy’s grandfather tomorrow. He would retrieve Sammy for Mom.
After making sure all the arrangements were made, he just climbed into his bed to sleep.
The next morning when Sherry awoke, she saw a message left by Dan. On it was written, [Mommy, I’ve gone to get Sammy for you. I took some money from your purse. You just wait for me to come back].
“Oh, my God, where has he gone?” Sherry began to get nervous and her face turned pale.
What if Dan was lost too?
She hurriedly washed and ran out of her house to look for her son without even brushing her teeth and washing her face. At the old Rowland Family villa .
