Chapter 93:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Standing silently, that small, cold face was emotionless and calm. The dark pupils were full of strange emotions and gave exactly the same.
“Master, your father misses your mother very much. Don’t blame him and it has nothing to do with you,” Mrs. Howe comforted him as she wiped away his tears.
How many of the father’s words could a five-year-old boy take?
Mrs. Howe tried to comfort Willi, but the little boy shook his head.
“Mrs. Howe, I understand. I know I lost my mother when she gave birth to me. It’s my fault. It’s all my fault.” The voice of a five-year-old should be innocent, but his was mature and stiff.
William turned and walked out into the garden. Not even the sun could warm his loneliness and his burden.

“What are you thinking about?” Dan didn’t get his answer and asked again.
Dan’s words broke John’s train of thought and once he came to his senses, he took one look at those eyes and his heart ached strangely.
Vivien, why do this boy’s eyes look so much like yours?
John felt every part of him ache at the thought of his wife.
“Mr. Rowland, what are you thinking about?” Dan was puzzled and gave him a look.
What’s the matter with him, Dan thought.
John came to his senses and glanced at the boy again as he shook his head, “Boy, what’s your name?”
“Didn’t I tell you?” Dan remembered that he had told Mr. Rowland his name.
“Maybe I’m old and I don’t remember!”
“You’re not old!” Dan pursed his lips, “Our guard at school is older than you are!”
“Ha!” Maybe it was because of what Dan said, John smiled again and felt strangely close to him.
At that moment, a child’s cry was heard from upstairs. It was Sammy’s voice.
“Old man, you lied, you’re not a good person!” Dan frowned and scolded, “Sammy is upstairs. You lied to me saying he’s overseas, you liar! Shame on you, shame on you.”
“What?” John’s face turned red and he felt as if he had been caught in a lie.
It was the first time anyone had ever said that to him.
After a long moment, his expression changed and he said, “Go home and tell your mom that Sammy is the grandson of the Rowland Family. It was agreed upon in the beginning and she must not renege on the agreement.”
“What renege?” asked Dan, “My mommy won’t renege. I’m going to yell Sammy! Sammy! It’s Dan. I’m downstairs, come down quick.”
The screaming stopped for a moment and then got even louder, “Waahhh…” –
John frowned even more, “Cry, cry, cry, you only know how to cry…”
“Sammy, come down!”
John held in his discontent and shouted, “Why are you crying?”.
Suddenly there was silence and only sobs could be heard.
“You, you yelled at him!” rebuked Dan, “I’m going to tell Mom you mistreated Sammy. You, old man, you’re going to jail for this.”
Hearing this, John sat up from the couch and said sternly, “He’s my grandson and I can do what I want! Servant, send this child home.”
“Old Master, I’m coming!” Mrs. Howe rushed in and loved Dan as soon as she saw him.
She wiped away his tears and asked, “Child, where are your parents, how old are you, what is your name?”
Dan looked around and saw a little grandmother who smiled radiantly at him.
She said adorably, “Hi Grandma, I’m Daniel. You can call me Dan. Sammy is my mommy’s son. My mommy found me. I’ve come to take Sammy to see my mommy. Grandma, can you tell this grandpa to give Sammy back to my mommy?”
“Your mommy?” Mrs. Howe was stunned and couldn’t take in what she had said, “Sammy’s mommy?”
“Mrs. Howe, have someone take it back!” John’s voice was low and stern.
Mrs. Howe was stunned and said, “Old master, since it’s Sammy’s mom, should you two get together? The little master has been crying for too long.”
“It’s none of your business! He’ll stop when he’s cried enough!”
“You have no heart!” Dan raised his eyebrows.
He thought for a while before saying, “How can Sammy have a grandfather like you? You’re not nice at all. You’re a hateful old man.”
What Dan said shocked Mrs. Howe. According to her recollection, when William was young he said the same thing about his father.
He said, “You’re a hateful father!”
When Dan said that Mrs. Howe was shocked and gave John a look. She was worried that John would be angry, but he just gave Dan a calm look, full of admiration.
He lowered his head to give a glance at the boy and that small face. Dan was looking straight at him with a face full of contempt, as if he despised him.
“Old master, the way this child talks is just like when William was young. It’s really adorable.”
Mrs. Howe couldn’t help but laugh.
How time flies, she thought, more than twenty years passed in the blink of an eye.
“Grandma, what are you laughing about? Get Sammy down quickly, didn’t you hear that Sammy was crying? It wasn’t easy for him to finally have a mom. Besides, Uncle said Sammy can stay next to Mommy. Quickly, get Grandpa to let him down.”
“Old master, why don’t you…?” Mrs. Howe said half-heartedly.
“No! Let him!” John shouted coldly, turned and went up the stairs.
When Dan heard that John wanted him to leave and not let him see Sammy, his dark eyes revealed a determination not befitting a child, “Old man, you’d better not be sorry!”
John startled and turned as he stood on the stairs, “Are you threatening me?”
“Yes!” Dan said in that boyish voice of his, but his tone was more mature than his age.
“What do you intend to do?” John started to grin.
“I’ll tell everyone that you mistreat a child!”
Dan had already thought about it – he wants to post this on the chat forums, on the websites, and let everyone else know that his mommy has a child!
“Hmm? How will you put it?” John laughed.
John hadn’t laughed all year and when he did, it was so radiant.
Mrs. Howe was floored! If she wasn’t mistaken, the old master hadn’t laughed in thirty years! How could this be? Did she see wrong?
She noticed the way the boy pouted and looked so much like William. Especially those eyes, the pretty eyebrows and the deep gaze, the small, firm, erect nose.
His red lips pursed, “That’s none of your business!”.
Dan looked at John’s smile and turned, “Hmph, bye!”
“Woah!” Mrs. Howe ran after him, “Son, where’s home, I’ll send you back!”
“Okay!” Dan thought about it and couldn’t walk back and might as well let this kind granny send him back.
John took a look at the little boy’s exit and strange thoughts flooded his mind. When he reached the second floor, he heard Sammy sobbing as the servant stood by the door.
When he saw the old master, he quickly stood up and greeted, “Old master.”
“Is the young master still crying?” John had never seen such a useless child. Just take a look at that child now.
He really felt that his grandson couldn’t compare to Dan. He felt so ashamed!
“Yes, from the day before when he came back, until now, he was crying for his mommy!” the servant reported truthfully.
John listened and his expression immediately darkened, “Open the door!”
“Yes!” The door opened.
John saw Sammy sobbing and looking down on the bed.
“Why are you crying, what can you get away with crying?” thundered a stern voice that scared Sammy until only his shoulders moved, not daring to cry anymore.
John saw that Sammy was afraid of him, and frustration welled up as he said, “Stop it, stop crying!”
Sammy lay back on the bed and didn’t dare move an inch.
John had experienced this too many times. Every time his grandson cried he felt so frustrated. How could he have a grandson like this?
“How can a child cry every time he experiences a difficulty? Your dad never cried when he was a child. You should learn from your father and not become weak. A child should be brave and never cry.” After saying that, John left.
Sammy’s little body was still shaking and sobbing, but he cried, “I want mommy!”.
This was the first time he was so persistent, urgent and brave.
Sammy quickly slid off the bed, ran out and looked determinedly at John and shouted, “Grandpa, I want Mommy!”.
John turned and saw his grandson and didn’t expect his grandson to become so brave, immediately after John said, “Good! Not bad!”
It was the first time Sammy had ever dared to talk to him that way!
“No, Grandpa!” he said coldly. “I want Mommy!” Sammy yelled.
“Bring the young master into the room!” John said and the servant led Sammy inside.
“Grandpa, I want mommy. I don’t like Grandpa, I want Mommy!” Sammy struggled and screamed as they carried him into the room….
“Son, what’s your mommy’s name?” Mrs. Howe had the driver send Dan home, but she rode with him in the car.
She really loved this little boy. He was so adorable, strong and mature for his age.
“Sherry!” replied Dan adorably.
A cab passed by them just as the car was leaving the Rowland residence. Sherry hurried out of the car and ran to the front door.
“Miss, who are you looking for?” Lyford was surprised that there were so many visitors that day.
“Has a child come?” asked Sherry, anxiously, worried that Dan had found his way there.
“Child?” Lyford pointed to the car that had just pulled away and said, “They just left, Mrs. Howe sent him back!”
“What’s his name?”
“She said it’s Daniel!”
“Oh, my God!” Sherry was about to get into the car when someone yelled, “Who’s that outside?”
“Old master, someone’s here to get that boy!”
“Bring her in!”
“Miss, our old master wants to see you!” The guard stopped Sherry.
“But…” She glanced at the car in the distance and was very anxious. She said to the cab driver, “Please wait for me, I’ll be out in a little while!”
She didn’t want to come looking for Sammy because William said he would take care of it, but she didn’t expect Dan to find the place. That boy was too daring to be able to find the Rowland residence on his own.
In the parlor.
“Are you Miss Murray?” John thought back to that day when he was waiting at the restaurant, “Do you work at Leon’s Restaurant?”
“Yes!” Sherry said.
“Miss Murray, I didn’t expect you to be Sammy’s mother!” said John directly.
Sherry tensed as she nodded, “I didn’t expect Sammy to be my son either!”.
“But Miss Murray, you should understand that it was an arrangement. So what’s your motive now?” John raised his eyebrow and gave a sharp look at the woman before him.
She didn’t look like the kind of woman who would sell herself, but the kind of woman who would use her body to give birth to a child for someone else. This kind of woman was very dangerous.
Her pure and innocent appearance could be only superficial. “I want my child back!”
