Chapter 2117:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Janet’s attention shifted, and she instinctively wrapped her hands protectively around her belly. Her voice trembled with fear as she asked, “Is that true?”
“Yes, I never lie to you,” Sonia affirmed gravely. Janet trusted Sonia, but she still felt the need to hear a doctor’s opinion.
At that moment, the doctor and a nurse, who had been present in the ward, approached. The doctor addressed Janet directly. “From a medical standpoint, it’s entirely possible. The risk of a fright in pregnant women is greater than most people realize.”
The doctor’s earnest statement left Janet feeling intimidated. Concerned for her unborn child’s well-being, she reluctantly consented to hospitalization for further monitoring.
Brandon let out a deep sigh of relief.
He was relieved that Sonia’s influence had persuaded Janet to undergo the necessary medical checks. Acknowledging Sonia’s crucial role, Brandon looked her way with gratitude.
Sonia, catching his grateful gaze, subtly nodded in acknowledgment.
As the moments passed, Janet began to succumb to drowsiness. Wanting to provide her with some peace, Brandon asked that everyone else leave the ward to allow Janet to rest in silence.
The smell of disinfectant lingered in the now-empty corridor.
As Sonia was leaving after her visit, Lexi reached out and caught her arm.
“What’s up?” Sonia inquired, lowering her gaze to meet Lexi’s.

Lexi, sitting and looking up, asked with curiosity, “Are you familiar with Mr. Larson?”
“Why do you ask?” Sonia responded, somewhat wary.
“I noticed the way you two looked at each other,” Lexi admitted openly. She then squinted slightly and probed further, “Are you having an affair with Mr. Larson?”
Sonia looked at Lexi in disbelief, finding the question absurd. “Of course not. I am Mrs. Larson’s bodyguard, and Mr. Larson and I have only exchanged a few words.” Sonia frowned, firmly denying any affair.
She could have explained her familial connection to Janet, which would clarify why Brandon treated her with such courtesy, but she chose not to share that detail.
However, with Janet’s pregnancy progressing and the doctor’s warning about the need to avoid emotional stress, Brandon had agreed with Sonia to keep her true identity a secret for now. Therefore, revealing too much was not an option for Sonia.
Lexi reasoned that Janet was far more admirable than Sonia, and Brandon’s affection for Janet was clear. There seemed to be no plausible reason for him to be unfaithful.
Reassured by her own thoughts, Lexi’s grip remained firm, but her gaze grew more intense.
Sonia, sensing the weight of that stare, began to feel uneasy. She frowned and asked, “What else do you want to discuss?”
She couldn’t shake the feeling that Lexi was trying to corner her. Why was Lexi so focused on her? It felt as if she had wronged her somehow.
Lexi’s response came with a sneer. “At the last fashion show, you were the one who sabotaged Draco’s dress!”
Lexi was clearly confronting old grievances. Taken aback, Sonia responded coolly, “Do you have any proof?”
“Absolutely!” Lexi quickly turned her phone toward Sonia, displaying a video that the mysterious man had sent her. “What do you have to say now?”
Sonia froze, her expression one of shock. She hadn’t expected Lexi to possess actual evidence. Her face blushed with mortification as she stood still, caught off guard.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean any harm. I’ve been facing some tough situations. I hope you can understand,” Sonia said, her voice tinged with regret as she lowered her head. “If there’s any way I can make amends, I’m willing to compensate as best I can.”
