Chapter 2118:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
The compensation offered by Sonia held no allure for Lexi; she felt deeply wronged. Putting her phone down, Lexi sneered and asked, “Who are you working for?”
A sense of dread washed over Sonia. Did Lexi suspect something? What had prompted such a direct question?
“Why do you ask?” Sonia replied, maintaining a calm veneer.
“It’s clear that your role here is more complicated than it seems,” Lexi said firmly. “Someone must have directed you to Janet. You infiltrated as her bodyguard, meddling in her friendships with ulterior motives. You truly are cunning.”
Sonia’s frown deepened. After a brief pause, she sighed and admitted, “I acknowledge my mistakes, and I sincerely apologize. However, I assure you, I harbor no intentions of harming Janet.”
Yet, no amount of apology or explanation from Sonia could sway Lexi.
“I will neither forgive you nor trust you,” Lexi declared, her eyes fixed firmly on Sonia. “If not for you, how would I have ended up so unjustly ostracized?”
For a moment, Sonia was rendered speechless. She realized the gravity of the harm she had caused Lexi; a simple apology or mere compensation wouldn’t be enough for redemption.
As Sonia racked her brain for a better way to make amends, Lexi began using her phone, making Sonia uneasy.
“What are you doing?” Sonia asked.
“You’re the one who wrecked the fashion show. It’s only right that I inform others to vindicate myself,” Lexi replied assertively as she sent the video.
Instead of dialing the police, Lexi’s decision to send the video caused even greater unease in Sonia.

Ultimately, it didn’t matter to whom Lexi sent the video. Sonia accepted her fault and the necessity of revealing the evidence, but she prayed that it wouldn’t reach Janet.
Concerned that Janet might feel disappointed, Sonia grabbed Lexi’s phone to see who the video had been sent to. A wave of relief washed over her when she saw that the video had been sent to Brandon, along with a report of her questionable identity.
As long as Janet remained unaware, Sonia felt a tremendous sense of relief.
“Why did you grab my phone? Give it back!” Lexi demanded sharply, snatching her phone back from Sonia.
Shortly after, Brandon sent a message to Sonia: “Lexi sent me a message. You need to explain to her that Alexandra is manipulating both of you. You must work together to handle Alexandra and clear up any misunderstandings between yourselves.”
Feeling somewhat powerless, Sonia explained her situation to Lexi, as Brandon had instructed.
Lexi’s eyes widened in shock, and her demeanor shifted entirely. She expressed sympathy for Sonia’s ordeal, angered by Alexandra’s cunning manipulations. She also lamented her own misfortune, confused by why Alexandra had chosen to exploit her among many others.
“Do I really seem so naive and gullible?” Lexi asked, her voice tinged with hurt.
“You were targeted because you’re close to Janet. Mr. Larson has kept Janet well-protected. It’s rare to find someone as close to her as you are,” Sonia reassured her with a smile, subtly affirming her value without directly calling her naive.
Feeling somewhat flattered by the acknowledgment, Lexi scratched her head and smiled. “I guess it’s because I joined the studio early, so Janet has come to trust me more.”
This reflection led Lexi to a decisive stance. She looked at Sonia and offered, “To honor Janet’s trust, I’m ready to collaborate with you against Alexandra and ensure she is well-protected.”
Touched by Lexi’s commitment, Sonia patted her shoulder and praised, “You’re a good person, Lexi. It’s no wonder Janet holds you in such high regard.”
