Chapter 2119:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
The sharp ringtone cut through Sonia and Lexi’s conversation.
“Your phone,” Lexi pointed out.
Sonia retrieved her phone from her pocket, her smile fading when she saw it was Alexandra calling. “Sorry, I need to take this,” Sonia murmured.
Normally, she would step into a corner to take calls from Alexandra to avoid being overheard, as he often gave orders over the phone.
As Sonia turned to walk away, Lexi caught her hand.
“There’s no need to move away. You can take the call here; I won’t interrupt,” Lexi assured her, her voice firm but gentle.
Just moments ago, Lexi had brought up their unsettling encounter with the mysterious man. After discussing it thoroughly with Sonia, Lexi was convinced that this man was Alexandra. She speculated that Alexandra’s sudden call was because his plan to harm Janet had failed. Curious, Lexi wanted to gauge Alexandra’s reaction firsthand.
Previously, Sonia would have taken such calls in private, but with Alexandra’s scheme no longer a secret, there was no need for discretion.
“Alright,” Sonia agreed, pressing the answer button with a slight nod.
“What the hell is going on?” Alexandra’s icy voice came through the phone. “Janet and Brandon were trapped at the far end of the road. The car I rigged was supposed to hit them head-on. Why did Brandon suddenly run off with Janet?”
Sonia put the call on speaker so Lexi could listen in.
Lexi couldn’t suppress a snicker upon hearing Alexandra’s frustration.
Why did the plan fail? It was because it had been seen through.

Inwardly, Lexi mocked Alexandra for his foolishness, a sentiment Sonia shared but wouldn’t voice out loud.
Feeling the tension, Sonia coughed awkwardly and scrambled for an excuse.
“Everything was going as planned. I’m not sure what went wrong,” Sonia started, her voice stiffening. “Perhaps it’s because Brandon has a strong sense of danger. I’ve heard that top executives with powerful businesses often have a keen sixth sense!”
There was a brief silence on the other end of the phone, followed by a loud crash.
Hearing this, Sonia and Lexi exchanged shocked glances. The sounds of Alexandra furiously throwing objects continued in the background. Sonia couldn’t tell what he was smashing or if he truly believed her explanation.
However, one thing was clear: he was infuriated. Eventually, Alexandra’s voice cut through the chaos, low and menacing.
“I won’t hold this failure against you, but you must continue to cooperate. Don’t let your sympathy for Janet put you at risk.”
“Understood,” Sonia responded tersely, her lips pressed tightly together.
Alexandra’s tirade continued, using Sonia as a vent for his frustrations. Yet, she appeared unfazed, having grown accustomed to his outbursts.
When the call ended, Sonia and Lexi shared a look and burst into laughter.
“I can’t believe how vile he gets when embarrassed,” Lexi remarked.
Sonia nodded. “He’s bound to fail anyway. Alexandra can’t compete with Mr. Larson, who’s always one step ahead.”
