Chapter 2122:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
As usual, the nurse took Janet for her daily check-up. Sonia, Janet’s bodyguard, was keen to accompany her, even on short trips near the ward.
As they crossed the hospital corridor, the nurse suddenly stumbled, causing Janet’s wheelchair to wobble.
“Watch out!” Sonia quickly stabilized the wheelchair from both sides, protecting Janet with sharp vigilance.
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Larson. I just tripped over my foot.” The nurse apologized immediately.
Before Janet could reply, Sonia turned to the nurse and subtly dismissed her, “Please continue with your duties. I’ll take Mrs. Larson for examination myself.”
The nurse, left with no choice, nodded and walked away. “Are you all right?” Sonia turned to Janet once they were alone.
Janet nodded, her tone light and teasing, “You’re always so alert. Has Brandon increased your workload without my knowledge?
Sonia’s quick reaction to a simple stumble showed a level of alertness that went beyond typical bodyguard duties.
Laughing about the incident, Sonia replied with a smile, “No. Guarding you has been quite straightforward. My previous clients have had many peculiar demands, but you’ve always made sure I got enough rest.
Lexi, who was nearby, chimed in, “Exactly, Janet. You’re great with your staff. That’s why we volunteered to help out when you were pregnant.
Janet turned to look at them, noting their camaraderie.
Lexi seemed confused, unsure if her comment was out of place. Sensing the moment, Sonia inquired, “What’s on your mind?” “Not much. I’m just amused at how close you two have become,” Janet said, still smiling.

Back then, Lexi and Sonia hardly got along; their meetings often ended in arguments. So it was surprising to see Lexi come to Sonia’s aid today.
Both Sonia and Lexi shared an awkward smile.
Almost simultaneously, they said: ‘We’ve always been close. ‘i
Soon after, Lexi and Sonia escorted Janet into the examination room.
Hospital protocol only allowed the patient into the examination room, so Lexi and Sonia waited outside. While Janet was inside, Lexi and Sonia exchanged quick glances.
“I’ve noticed a middle-aged man hanging around our neighborhood for the past two days,” Lexi suddenly mentioned.
“Have you seen his face?” Sonia inquired.
Lexi thought for a moment, then shook her head. “He was wearing a mask. He wasn’t tall and very thin. Something about him felt wrong to me.”
“Not tall, very thin…” Sonia repeated, furrowing her brow. The description reminded her of someone she had met before.
“Could it be Alexandra?” Lexi blurted out, her fear palpable as she clutched Sonia’s sleeve. “What should we do? Is Alexandra here to get me?”
“The person you described doesn’t sound like Alexandra.” Sonia quickly reassured her.
“Then who could it be? One of Alexandra’s people?” Lexi’s voice quavered as she thought. “I’ve heard that powerful families have private cells. I’m afraid of being locked up.” As her fear escalated, Lexi moved closer to Sonia, seeking comfort in her presence.
